Maps are coming to Minecraft in Beta Update 1.6

Apr 27th 2011 5:51PM (Joystiq)
Nice thing is that he's planning on making it so you can make duplicate maps that will update when ever one of the maps is in use. I imagine this is not only for map sharing with other people (apparently they don't currently work in MP, but a lot of stuff doesn't), but also so you can keep spare maps at home in case you die. At least that's my take on it.

Egosoft's 'X Rebirth' brings the space exploration series back to life

@Nytemare457 I've liked all 3 of the X games that have been released in the US. Gameplay has been good as have the environments and space models. Character models are eh... They tried some horrible cutscreens in X2, but haven't repeated that and just left story stuff in the game space and voice overs in X3 like the original game. It's about the only space sim series around and it's definitely one of the most in depth ones ever made. You can build an industrial empire and fly capital ships and have your own fleet if you want. Very sandbox outside of the main story.

Lay siege to Dungeon Siege 3 on May 31

@sammo21 It's not the same people making it. Gas Powered Games is really only consulting, Obsidian is doing the work.

Tetris Axis, other 3DS titles revealed in Japanese release schedule

Jan 9th 2011 2:44PM (Joystiq)
@Draco That's the same game play, but I'm wondering if someone made a later version. I remember the game having a regular opening sceen and slightly different graphics and UI (think the UI was black actually so it didn't distract you if you were playing in 3D mode). Plus the blocks were darker colors I believe.

But yeah, that's the gameplay I'm talking about.

Tetris Axis, other 3DS titles revealed in Japanese release schedule

There was actually a 3D tetris style game 13 or 14 years ago on the PC. Used the Red and Blue type glasses for the 3D. You dropped pieces into an area that you were looking down into and had to fill a whole, for lack of a better word, floor to dismiss blocks. Was a fun game. Unfortunately can't remember the name of it.

Doubt he's allowed to sell posters of it. But here's a link to the version uploaded to DeviantArt, which also has a link to his blog about how he made it. Second link is another picture of him.

Harmonix talks about future projects, returning to Frequency and Amplitude

Frequency was my favorite of all the Rhythm games. Had a higher ratio of songs I liked vs. songs I didn't want to play but was forced to in order to advance.

Amazon offering wonderful Pikachu DSi charge stand this December

@Mmmmz I don't know anyone personally that would rather have a DSi over the original DS. My friends and I just prefer the size, weight and buttons of the original over the new ones.

Man, they're always leaving out the DS Heavy for those of use who bought the original and are perfectly happy with it.
