Joystiq hands-on: PixelJunk 1-4

Apr 29th 2009 2:23PM (Joystiq)
From the looks and sounds of this, they're taking a LOT of inspiration from a little-known Sega Genesis game called Sub-Terrania. This is AWESOME, as that game was insanely good.

Exclusive PS3 RPG Atelier Rorona revealed

pgann,

Cool! Thanks for the clarification. Whatever way you slice it, though, I'm definitely a fan of Gust's work and this is great news for me, as a PS3 owner =)

Joyswag: Resident Evil Collector's Edition (PS3)

Atlantis. Half-way through the game, it turns into a spaceship and takes off into space and you finish the game on the planet of infected zombies. It's the only option left, really.

Exclusive PS3 RPG Atelier Rorona revealed

Actually, Nippon Ichi is only responsible for publishing the titles. They were developed by Gust in Japan, published by I think Banpresto before they were absorbed into Namco Bandai. In the US, Nippon Ichi publishes Gust titles. In Europe, Koei picks them up. It's pretty convoluted, but the end result is that we get niche RPGs, so everyone wins!

I can't believe Joystiq actually bought into this article. Your credibility is now as viable as Daily Mail.

From steak to DVD: Kojima talks next-gen

Jun 19th 2006 5:02PM (Joystiq)
Go, Kojima.
I mean, who wouldn't want a steak as opposed to Lunchables? Granted, lunchables are badass, but I do have to agree on one point. I don't go to the movies to have that experience, I go because I feel the movie I am about to see was worth admission. It all comes down to personal value and if you'd rather spit out 650-700 for a Wii60 combo mania, then fine.
Others of us will snag a PS3 and have a large variety of game genres to play. Which is to say, more than WWII shooters, sports titles, and racing sims.

Guild Wars hits 2 million mark

Jun 19th 2006 4:49PM (Joystiq)
This game really is underappreciated. It's very addicting (I actually kicked a smoking habit because it took me away too long... or did it?) and the people are honest-to-goodness helpful.
Before this game, I played FFXI and let me shake down a few advantages GW has (I won't even try to compare WOW because I won't be playing it).
-The people are nice. I quit FFXI because everyone was bitching about job combinations and wouldn't let me play with them, so I was stuck without the ability to advance because of my "complete free choice of jobs".
-Sort of related, but if you don't want to wait for a party in GW, you have the little NPCs to play with. Sure, they're not nearly as intelligent as the real users, but for a quick fix of GW-smashing, it works.
...End. GW is worth it, since it's only one price. Not infinite recurring costs of doom.

IGN Dreamcast: Week 2 [update 1]

Jun 18th 2006 2:14AM (Joystiq)
I don't think it's fair to focus on IGN's Dreamcast site for updating slow. The entire IGN site has had a ridiculous lull since E3 -- hardly any reviews and even fewer previews. Granted, many, many previews went out during and shortly after E3, but still. At least Joystiq still has the motivation to get us our fix.

J Allard, "Senor Cranky," gets owned in PGR3

Jun 18th 2006 2:11AM (Joystiq)
Just another typical XBox marketing strategy to appeal to the widest, dimmest demographic in America. If we stop buying into these mediocre attempts to woo us into buying mediocre games, perhaps we'll see an increase in creativity and purpose in the gaming culture. XBox is to gaming what MTV is to music.
