I have a Sony bias? Wow, I never got that before. If there was one company that has always shunned me during my gaming journalism career, it has been Sony.
By all intents and purposes, Sony should be my most hated company.
In all honesty. I just call it as I see it. I hold no bias to any company. I just want to see good games.
The term "bad for the sport" is simply an underground sort of internet term that was used originaly for either boxing or MMA, I can't remember which one.
At any rate, try not to take the "sport" thing literally. The whole thing is sort of like an internet saying, like "o rly?"
It can apply to anything. Like say McDonalds is making kids fat. You'd say McDonalds is bad for the sport. Or North Korea is gonna kill us all. North Korea is bad for the sport. That sort of thing.
I asked the producers that very same question and they said it was the same.
As far as the console vs PC debate, we could go on for decades with that. It all has to do with comfort level. I happen to live in an apt where I tend to play console more than PC simply because it's more comfortable to sit on my couch and do so. If I had a sweet desk and all, I'm sure I'd be playing PC more.
Prey was another game for me that I thought would suck, going in.
I've seen it many times in its many stages of development and nothing ever wow'ed me to the point where I was like, "I gotta play this game!"
So, I was pretty shocked at how deep the story seems to be and all the little nuances to it. The Prey people couldn't tell me too much because of spoilers and all, but I was left actually wanting to hear the story more than play the game.
Overall, I was just glad the controls were solid and there was enough variety and good-paced action to keep me entertained.
I, nor anyone here at Joystiq is bias. We are merely presenting material that is already out there. If there was a diluge of anti-microsoft or anti-Nintendo Internet junk, then we'd be posting it just as much as anyone else. It just so happens that Sony is the flavor of the month, so to speak.
Are sequels bad for the sport?
