Bethesda vs. Mojang: 'Scrolls' case going to court

@slickie But Penny Arcade are professional satirists. Notch is a game maker. Maybe he should be letting his legal team handle this. Anyone who's caught the last half hour of an episode of law and order is familiar with the Miranda warning, right? He's making a mockery out of the process with comments like these. Frivolous law suits happen every day, but no matter how you look at it, he isn't approaching the case with any sense of maturity. That might come to bite him in the ass. Weee!!!!

The Diablo 3 'Skill Calculator' lets you roll your class, sans Diablo 3

Sep 14th 2011 6:46PM (Joystiq)
@Mechazawa Prime

I accounted for that in my expression. The first six numbers account for active skills, the next six account for different rune modifiers, and the last three numbers account for the three passives which cannot be modified. Its been a long time since I took math in school but I'm pretty sure that checks out. If the expression is inaccurate, I'm sure that the actual number would be larger. Also a correction: I meant 10 ^ 15, but I think you can't write superscript on joystiq

@stiqlol 25 x 24 x 23 x 22 x 21 x 20 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 12 x 11 x 10 = 2.629935 × 1015
OR
2,629,935,000,000,000
OR
Two-and-a-half-quadrillion unique wizard builds, not taking into account builds which include skills that do not have socketed runes

Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer details Adam Jensen's past

@Tofu Cyborg I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you outright there. How can I transfer a personality onto a game character? If you're talking about the the developers as opposed to the player, then how do i have any creative hand in the process? And if I have no control, how, exactly, am I playing a role-playing game at all?

Original DE handled this in kind of a cool way: the player was referred to be a "Code name" in voice over, while he or she could name the character anything they wanted.

Looking forward to this game despite the fact that my machine probably won't be able to run it. Oh well, maybe I'll pick it up on retail and try to get it running on my mac. I'm prepared that it won't live up to the first game, hoping it'll at least be as enjoyable for me as ME.

Dragon Age 2 PC DRM detailed, no disc check or install limit

Feb 2nd 2011 1:10AM (Joystiq)
@Pugnaciousturtle You're aware of who these security measures are for, right? Its not like they can ONLY subject pirates to the DRM. Sure, that'd be the ideal, but as of yet it really doesn't seem like a viable option.

Sounds like pretty fair DRM to me. People complaining that this is obtrusive really are kidding themselves... Personally, I have a hard-wire ethernet connection, but I'll gladly plug in my laptop a few times if it means I can play more AAA games like these on the PC platform.

First videos of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

Its probably worth mentioning that the SMT series was exploring (albeit quasi-3D) dungeons long before Etrian Oddysey was doing the same, unbeknown to most.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a first-person RPG for DS

I somehow doubt you tried every combination, given that there are tens of thousands of party combinations with thousands more of unique combinations of racial skills. Grinding is entirely unnecessary in this game if you equip your character with logical spells and align your MC's attributes fittingly.

Anyway, can't wait to play this.
