First Bad Decision of 2008: Maxim Names Sarah Michelle Gellar Woman of the Year

What's with all the SMG fanatics? Come on, it is wierd for her to be named woman of the year when she has done anything high profile lately... oh, but it's for 2008... which in itself is wierd, because it's not even 2008 yet. Settle down kids.

Apple not just refusing cash, also refusing Apple Gift Cards for iPhones

Oct 29th 2007 7:36PM (Engadget)
I don't know if it's been explained, but the reason you can refuse a sale if they want to pay cash, even though it's legal tender, is because legal tender, by law must be accepted in the payment of debt. If they refuse to sell you it, you owe them no money (no debt is incurred.) If they give it to you under the agreement that you will pay them, only then must they accept the cash.

At least this was my reasoning when a friend and I got into an argument about whether it's legal to refuse if you're trying to pay with cash (for example if they refuse to take a $100 bill for a 50 cent candy bar.)

Monday Morning Poll: Does a Gay Harry Potter Character Tarnish the Series?

Well said Alevard. Exactly the point I aimed to make.

I also meant 'relegate' where I said 'regulate'.

So do a lot of you lose respect for the character? Do some of you think that having him in such a prominent position is bad because kids look up to him? But then where do we regulate the role of homosexuals? No matter how their other actions speak of them, no gay man or woman should be looked up to for any reason because of that one aspect? No one is perfect, and the 7th book is largely about that.

While I actually think Dumbledore being gay suits him, I think the idea would have been more effective if it was only hinted at. If it's not well known to other book characters, why should it be well known to us?

However, I support him being gay, as that it gives more depth to his friendship to Grindewatever, and it's probably good for young readers, so they may be more respectful about people's sexuality. And if anyone thinks that Dumbledore being gay is horrible and ruins the series, who cares. That's what they get for their prejudice.
