Are you honestly implying that the modern metal scene sucks, EXCEPT for Slipknot? Either you're dyslexic or you really haven't listened to anything outside of the mainstream, because if you had I think you'd be speaking the other way around. There are TONS of excellent metal bands out there today and Slipknot is by far one of the worst (if you can even consider them metal). Bands/musicians like Opeth or Ayreon (among literally hundreds of others) are better than any of those that you mentioned and far, far more original.
