This whole body switching ghost thing totally ruins it for me and makes this game go from "absolutely buy" to "no way they ruined it". I played all Driver games and think that the first two were by far the best. They were spot on with their Bullit car chase style and at that time revolutionary in many ways. Still play them from time to time on my trusty PlayStation. I'm really sorry for what they did to this last entry.... : (
I think this whole body switching ruins the franchise, which was known for its gritty 70ies setting. Maybe it's just me, but i was hoping for some kind of remake or update of the first and second games, which were fantastic and really revolutionary. I'm just not sold on this whole ghost thing and makes the game a no buy for me... : (
Well, to be precise it looks pretty exactly like the crossover between Mashed and Micro Machines 64. The weapons, the looks... but one thing bothers me: the tracks are all the same. No special track features like in Mashed or MM. Just driving around on flat courses with just some ramps to make it more interesting? Meh, hardly inspiring...
I have been follofing OberDose for quite some time now and they have made huge progress. But i don't think they will release before the end of the year and to be honest the movement is the only thing which doesn't sound all too generic.
I hate to say this, but as long as this is going to be a sequel and not a DLC i'm out, even though Bomberman stil IS the best game on earth. Just don't like paying AGAIN for some more powerups and maps...
I have been playing this for quite some time now, and though i agree with the reviewers that there's lots of love for the details in there, i must admit i'm disappointed. It just feels like GT1 with a bit more polish, or actually shine. The cars still don't handle realistically, if you compare it to games like GTR or other sims. I have a Renault Mégane myself but the same model in the game doesn't behave like it in any way. For me it feels as if the cars were on tracks, slippery ones. They just don't turn realistically. Also driving into a wall at high speed shouldn't just bump me back on track. I don't care for a cosmetic damage model, but i expect at least to not be able to continue the race in a case like this. I expect this from a "simulation" that has been several years in the making. Also when i drive on my home track in Switzerland it's odd to see people at the side of the road standing at an angle because there is a slope. Having tons of cars doesn't make a good game, i'm sorry, nor does it mean it's a simulation.
I am really sorry for the franchise. The first two games were fantastic back then (and are still today in my opinion), just because they were about what is important for a driver: driving. This Shift stuff just feels like Ubisoft misplaced Assassin's Creed... won't buy unless this feature is just laid out to be the "easy" difficulty setting...
