Apr 6th 2007 1:49PM (Joystiq)I don't think anyone is castigating the soldiers' decision to go go to Iraq. What bothers people are the presumptions made by military commercials, such as;
Being in the army is "fun"
Being in the army is like a video game
Being in the army makes you a "man
Being in the army make you "army strong" (I hate that phrase)
what bothers people is the portrayal of the army. I think I'm just as strong and as much of a man as anyone in Iraq.Most of us aren't eager to join the war effort at this point; Iraq is a disaster (say what you want, what we're doing there doesn't matter) and the entire war on terror has become a joke. However, saying this doesn't mean I disrespect the soldiers. Just because the war is useless doesn't mean I hate the soldiers or something.
