Microsoft aware of Xbox Live profile 'Error 801540B7,' working on fix
Dec 21st 2011 3:12PM (Joystiq)My favorite part about the credit card storage for Microsoft: you can't delete your credit card.
i have a family account and you are required to have a valid card on file at all times for god knows what reason. So, I have a credit card that only has enough money to pay for my PSN and XBL accounts at any given moment.
Sure it sounds dumb and probably excessive, but at least I know that the most I could be out is $200 and can be easily disputed. for the points I just buy point cards when I'm out. It helps me avoid the impulse buys.

PSA: Xbox dashboard update 'slightly delayed' (Update - rolling out to subscribers now)
Dec 6th 2011 1:01PM (Joystiq)Using a controller, you use the bumpers to move left or right in the pagination, it feels better than before. I have a Harmony 720, and it is kind of a pain to navigate using just that remote, but it still feels quicker than the last dashboard.

Dec 6th 2011 12:58PM (Joystiq)I have not experienced that at all. How does it slow down the dashboard?
I'm also in the beta and the boot time for the Kinect sensor seems to be shorter, but that could just be because I'm in the dash quicker than before. I have a 60GB Pro from 09 and 250GB slim bought last year. Both are in the beta and both work perfectly. Kinect doesn't need a second, dedicated dashboard to control the 360 anymore, it's just on. all you have to do is wave at the xbox and you can navigate the entire xbox with gestures and voice. You can also just use a controller and it works just as well.
The only negative, and this has been voiced by a few beta testers, is that you can't disable the voice and gesture control while live events are happening. Specifically the UFC fight that was streamed to beta testers. There were a few issues, but nothing that was a deal breaker.
If they could update the OS/Kinect to allow only recognized faces and voices of signed-in profiles to control the 360, THAT would be one of the most killer features of the system. I don't think that'll make it in to this generation of the xbox though.

Dec 6th 2011 12:24PM (Joystiq)If it's anything like the ESPN app, it checks your ISP and grants you access based on the internet connection you are currently on. Probably coupled with device verification e.g. Netflix, Hulu, MLB.tv, NHL GameCenter Live, et cetera.
Netflix's 'Just for Kids' section added to Wii
Nov 22nd 2011 5:07PM (Joystiq)We get it, you love your Wii, and anyone that says anything that may possibly be taken negatively about it must be condescended to. Fantastic.
Now get over it.

Nov 15th 2011 11:57AM (Joystiq)I wish the Kinect gesture control was a little more customizable on the 360. I keep wanting to select an item on screen by "tapping" my index finger when I'm hovering over it. It'd also be nice to be able to "grab" the screen anywhere and move left or right/up or down when on the dashboard. It's a minor inconvenience to have to hold my hand over and item for a couple seconds as opposed to just making a quick gesture and moving on, it'd make the entire Kinect experience a lot more fluid - in my opinion at least.

Rumor: Next Xbox to be Windows-powered, going 'Apple route'
Nov 9th 2011 3:00PM (Joystiq)So far the PS3 is being bought more than the 360 this year, and last year as well.

Look at the total units sold. The 360 is currently ahead of the PS3, though, the trending data looks like the PS3 should overtake the 360 some time between now and the next gen.
