I was in the Wii Pre-order line for the EB at the Annapolis Festival Location...and I have to say that I possibly met the most annoying Nintendo Fanboy of all time.....

He was ranting and raving about how the Wii would be the greatest system of all time....and refused to give any kudos whatsoever to Sony or Microsoft's sytems.....he even went so far as to proclaim that the GAMECUBE was a much better system than PS2 or XBOX.

I suffice to say was flabbergasted by such an altered view of reality.....as an owner of all systems....I realize that each system has its strengths and enjoy owning all the systems.

The funniest anti-other company rants he had were:
1) "Can you believe the lengths that MICROSOFT will go to make money.....I heard they are going to start streaming ads on Billboards during games?? Nintendo would never do this!!"

My response to this rant: "Do you seriously think Nintendo isn't in to making money as well??"

2) "Playstation 3??!! The systems is 600$....I can never afford that.....and I don't think any of my friends will ever afford that?? Same for XBOX...I'm not paying $400. Heck...nobody will buy those machines. I don't care for any of the games on those other systems anyway."

My response : "So you have never owned any other game system your entire life but a Nintendo System?? What about Final Fantasy? Metal Gear? Halo? Guitar Hero?"

His Response: "Those games suck.....SUPER SMASH BROS...I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE WII!!"

Suffice to say....the FUNNIEST end of this ranting Fanboy story is.....HE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO PRE-ORDER a WII as the # alotted to the store cutoff right at me!!!

Watching the look of anger in his eye....and then the way he rambled off in complete anger and frustration could have been one of the most surreal fanbioy experiences I've witnessed....It was absolutely hilarious.

Thinking from an East Coast sensibility....and given that lines at most EB/GameStop Stores weren't bad with most people only having to arrive like 2-3 hours before to get a good spot....

Which would you rather wait out in......given that the PS3 releases on 11/17??

A) 8-10+ or more Hours in cold weather with 30-50 people HOPING they'll get a system.....(when the store will only get like 25)....(Don't forget the PS2 Launch)

B) 60 Minutes casual wait time....Temperature about ~ 65-70 Degrees.....with a line of 8 people...and not have to worry with the hassle come launch day??

I say this pre-order experience went about as similar as my PS One, and Dreamcast Pre-orders.....which were very well run launches IMO.

I'm amazed at the faith the PS3 Fanboys have in Sony's Online System and matchmaking......
THey have shown ZERO to make me have faith that the PS3 Online will supercede the PS2 experience (save for a common login name).

Granted they are trying to emulate XBOX Live.....and in time they may match it.....but the blind faith that PS3 on launch day will match XBOX Live Online is foolhardy.

I already reserved RESISTANCE...as it is really the only PS3 game that looks like its Online Multiplayer won't be a complete fiasco or glitchy mess. At least I know SOCOM : COMBINED ASSAULT will provide an option.

Has anyone addressed how PS2 ONline games are supposed to work with PS3???

But I still cannot wait for HALO 3......Halo is still IMO the best utilization of XBOX LIVE with Matchmaking and Party Creating. To this day I can't help but play an hour or 2 a day....yes it overtook the hours I put into SOCOM 2 (which is still better than SOCOM 3).

SOny is continuing to give me Zero hope that they will be able to play catchup with XBOX Live in functionality for another generation.

Anyone else sense a repeat of the Horrid "Sponsored by GAMESPY" PS2 Online experience (Except for SOCOM of course) but with a unified login??

I seriously cannot see how Sony's online network is going to be of any quality without charging a fee for it as not every company wants or has the ability to setup reliable servers especially for a large amount of players.

I guess it'll be a repeat of the 2nd half of last generation....I'll have my PS3 for its exclusives.....but when it comes to multi-platform titles especially one with online capability....it'll be XBOX 360 all the way.

As I've stated before....the ONLY Videogame system that launched above 500$ (in adjusted dollars from 1970s) and was a success....was the ATARI 2600

Damnit I'm still going to buy you in November and watch you rot for a year as I'm an early adopter......much like my PSP.....but my Wii and 360 will keep me happy until MGS4.

I'm still amazed at how much people are worrying about 1080i vs 1080p......

When they should really be worrying about XBOX LIVE vs SONY's attempt to copy it....for which all signs point to disaster.

I agree that there are individuals who will buy the system with no games whatsoever at launch.

But lets be honest....this time around....looking at the long run....its not going to be a cakewalk for PS3.....600$ is still 600$. BLU-RAY or not....because the jump from DVD to BLU-RAY is not the jump from VHS to DVD. Johnny Six-Pack IMO could care less about BLU-RAY which I think irks alot people as SONY is definitely pushing a format down the consumers throat.

There has been only ONE system that was a success that sold for more than $500.00 (and that's in a cost adjusted price)....and it's the grandaddy system that EVERYONE owned and had almost the entire market unto itself....the Atari 2600.

I own every game systems ever made and tend to be the maven on technology to friends and family....so when asked "Is the PS3 worth 600??"...I've found very few reasons to justify a PS3 purchase to a mainstream or casual user over a 360 or Wii right now.

Granted this changes when the you factor in killer apps of MGS 4 and FFXIII come into the picture.....but those are a year....very possibly 2 years away....

PS3 needs a demonstrable launch game demo (like CoD 2 did for XBOX 360 last year) that says BUY ME instead of a 360 or a Wii!

Going against GEARS OF WAR on 360, the functionality of XBOX LIVE, the Wii's Unique Controller and Nintendo's Stable of Star Properties...... I don't see a game in the launch window that can do that.

I guess it's a good thing that the PS3 is 99% backwards compatible.
