Frictional teases a new Amnesia project, possibly set in China

Feb 10th 2012 6:36PM (Joystiq)
Great game. One of the scariest I've ever played. BUT... (and I'm gonna be downvoted for this)... I'm hoping they'll do something to improve the gameplay a little bit. I like that there was no combat, makes it scarier, but I feel like the puzzles were a bit rudimentary and the gameplay mechanics basically revolved around running. Just my honest opinion. Don't hate me.

Violent video games lead to obesity and bullying? So fat bullies? Um... Do they bully each other then? Not sure how this works.

Hitman: Absolution goes on a tour of the Chicago Public Library, shoots it up

@Resident Evil 6 Puppy Madness

How is this nothing like a Hitman game? There's stealth. There's disguises. And yes, he did kill unnecessarily, but as with most Hitman games, the choice to kill or go for silent assassin is left up to the player. Not sure why you say this isn't anything like a Hitman game.

Science picks Dead Space 2 as 360's scariest game

@zerokku I'm of the opinion the Amnesia was the scarier of the two games, but Dead Space 2 was more fun. Both good games, though.

Yep, cause there's absolutely no way anyone could make a compilation of violence based on clips from movies, books, or even music. Definitely single out video games.

I'm wondering if people just didn't get it. Virtual Shackles was easily the best, but it took me a sec to understand.

Valve addresses Left 4 Dead 2 server lag on Xbox 360

Nov 26th 2009 4:25PM (Joystiq)
Well L4D2 doesn't use the 360 matchmaking system like most games do. Valve hosts their own servers to run the game on. There's really nothing Microsoft can do about that. If the servers are running bad, it's Valve's job to fix them. But most games that use the 360 matchmaking system seem to run quite well most of the time. There will never be such thing as a 100% lag free system, but I find the 360's system to be more than adequate. Now stop being so snide. Calm down. Here, have a lollipop.

I'm just blown away that these guys had such a hard time with L4D2 on normal. Honestly, I would absolutely LOVE to see these guys play. They're doing something wrong. That's the only conclusion I can come to. Are they not playing well enough as a team? Are they moving too slow through the levels? Are they trying to kill every single zombie in an area before moving on? There's got to be something. I'm sorry, but this game really isn't that hard, even if you've never played it before. They talk about how perfect the AI director was in the first one. Aside from the dynamic paths and whether affects, the AI director seems virtually identical to me. The keep mentioning how hard the final level is. The final level on dark carnival has almost the EXACT same structure as every final level of the original left 4 dead. Zombies-tank-zombies-tank-rescue. They also keep mentioning how many people agree with them on twitter or whatever. I honestly haven't ran across that at all. Go to Google and type in "Left 4 Dead 2 too hard". Nothing comes up. No ones really talking about that. As they've admitted, they're the only reviewers to even mention it in their review. Now I admit, I'm not one to judge an entire site based on one review (after all, I hated Metal Gear Solid), but it blows my mind to think that so many people on Joystiq he played with had such a difficult time with this game. Please play it one more time Joystiq and post a video of it. I gotta see what's going on.
