Feds find no evidence of faulty electronics in Toyota models
Feb 8th 2011 3:38PM (Autoblog)Why not? Toyotas didn't have different accident rates from other makes before the media hysteria caused a few to lie about it. The truth is that it was driver error, and this problem exists for all makes.
What basis do you have to say the pedals are too close together? Why would that be a problem, and how far apart should they be, in your opinion? Are they that far apart in other makes? Of course not.
You just made up another bit of BS. It's amazing to see this process unfold.

Feb 8th 2011 3:35PM (Autoblog)If your floor mat isn't secure, that's your fault as a driver. If your floor mat gets stuck and you can't figure out how to get out of gear, that's your fault as a driver. You need to know how to operate your car, turn it off, leave the drive gears, before you get on the road. If you don't, you're not the only one who might get killed.
The problem here was poor drivers, many of whom were quite old and unwilling to figure out how to operate novel gear selectors.
And for LaHood to ignore that after a year of demonizing the government's competitor
(to GM and Chrysler) is criminal. Toyota should have legal recourse.
We all knew this ages ago, and they dragged feet telling the truth because they didn't like the truth. I think that's also a cause of accidents. Telling drivers to own up to the responsibility of driving, check their mats, practice shifting out of gear, knowing how to handle their cars, should have been the clarion call for a year. i don't need a government ad telling me about buckling my seat belt. I need government ads warning about a new fine for accidental accelerations from floor mats and failure to shift to neutral, focusing like a laser on driver accountability for their machine. I don't want my family out on the road with some idiot on his way to the Country Kitchen Cafe.
And part of the blame goes to Toyota for not being aggressive enough. They could have put an ad out warning drivers of all cars against being lazy about learning how to operate in an emergency. I guess that's not how you placate the modern consumer these days.
Instead, Toyota played hard ball, offering extreme financing deals that ruined GM's profitability. That's the real reason the federal government backed off.
George Hotz: I got sued for 'making Sony mad'
Jan 14th 2011 9:54PM (Joystiq)"Since when is a highly locked down, anti-consumer system a "nice thing"?"
It actually is a lot of fun, provided you aren't a cheapass about the games.
I don't have a problem with homebrew, but that's not why geohot hacked the PS3. He did it for attention and for piracy. He is a liar.
If you want emulation or homebrew, buy a PC. If you buy a ps3 for that, well... you're wasting your money and an awesome online console. I do understand, though. Hell, I bought my PS3 for homebrew before Geohot screwed me out of otherOS. Sony has to make money to survive. That is Sony's only code, and we should understand that just as we kill to eat.
Just be aware, Sony's not as stupid as they used to be. An awful lot of script kiddies are about to lose their PS3s.

Report: Sony could remotely disable jailbroken PS3s
Jan 14th 2011 2:12PM (Joystiq)"
That literally means nothing if you weren't forced to read it before purchasing or opening"
Are you sure about that?
An awful lot of games require you to agree to the EULA just to run them.
I can't recall, but the PS3 might just have that on its first startup. Anyone remember? And if there's a seal on the box, it could cover this too.
At any rate, good luck recovering damages in court. Sony's worried about billions of dollars, so they should break your console if you play a pirated game.

Jan 14th 2011 2:00PM (Joystiq)I really regret not having this on PC. The PS3 version bored me to tears.

Jan 13th 2011 10:47PM (Joystiq)My only memory of you is that you're a troll and a 360 fanboy. You don't care about the news, you care about the silly horserace.
Get lost.
PlayStation expansion into China planned
Jan 13th 2011 9:27PM (Joystiq)I'm very happy with the PS3. Demon's souls and GT5 present real challenge.
Not that the other consoles suck.
But I think emerging markets will love the PS3, especially since they love the PS2. I hope Sony is working hard to fight piracy. Maybe somehow they can enact a hardware solution and a new chinese region for PS3 games, such that they can overcome the current exploits.
