Sword and Sworcery EP: 350K units swold

Mar 5th 2012 2:58PM (Joystiq)
I can't remember if I bought it on sale or not, but I regret it either way. The game has a great feel to it, really cool sound and interesting look and sense of humor, but was not something that I enjoyed playing. Neat experience maaaaybe, fun/good game, not so much for me. I'm glad it didn't do gangbusters in that not too many other people were duped by critics' fawning.

Robot Entertainment reveals iOS game, Hero Academy

Nov 17th 2011 2:12PM (Joystiq)
In all honesty, even having an iPad, I don't usually get excited about any iOS games. This game though, has me very interested. Tactics games with simple-ish interface and gameplay must me a weak spot for me. I am curious to see how this plays and how solid it is.

Dungeon Defenders PC SDK public, pre-alpha pass for new mode available

Nov 15th 2011 9:21AM (Joystiq)
Hey, if someone could make it so the game wasn't neon-rainbow-barf I might enjoy it. I can't think of any other game in recent memory that I couldn't play anymore because it hurt my eyes to look at. It has a cool game system and is potentially a fun co-op game, the reviews are very good for it. I personally just can't get past the visuals.

Report: Used and digital sales make up 35% of total console spending in the US

Nov 8th 2011 9:59AM (Joystiq)
It's odd to have those two things, digital and used, in the same stat. They are so polar opposite in some ways. It would seem that people that buy digital are inherently less likely to buy used because they certainly not selling the product back. The situation certainly isn't digital vs used, but they don't mesh all that much unless you just happen to buy both or are so very worried about those HUGE game cases.

I suppose you could look it as people saving money on one hand by buying used, and then buying sale games and smaller cheaper digital games on Steam or PSN/XBLA.It would be great to be able to track the digital sales of products also available on disc. I think the numbers for console would be very, very small compared to PC.

I don't think the age of most people downloading full fledged AAA titles on console is even remotely close to happening. I am sure cloud storage will be a part of the next Xbox and PlayStation, but retail box copies and stores aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Sorry game reviewers and rich people. ;)

PlayStation characters say thanks in awesome new ad

Oct 5th 2011 11:04AM (Joystiq)
I have to point out that when the teaser for this trailer came out this website snarkily said that they were 'worried' that it was for the relaunch of Home. Now it's awesome, just wanted to point that out.

Oh, and it IS pretty awesome, by the way...certainly up for best console brand commercial ever (my opinion).

Hang out with Felicia Day in Dragon Age 2: Mark of the Assassin DLC

Sep 16th 2011 2:57PM (Joystiq)
@Drakkenfyre totally in the same bandwagon here. I give her credit for at least being a real 'nerd' and not a poser like alot of other personalities, but the incessant fawning is unwarranted(my opinion) and over-done.

Eventually I will play this game though. I know its not as good as the first, but perhaps when I see a modestly priced "Game of the Year"(quotes needed) edition I will pick it up.

The hidden costs of PlayStation Vita: 3DS-esque battery life and mandatory memory cards

Sep 15th 2011 10:09AM (Joystiq)
Yeah, I certainly don't love the 3-5 hour batter life, I can deal with it. I would just charge it like my phone, every day. As far as the lack of internal storage, not really that big of a deal either, although I would certainly prefer not to have to use memory cards all the time.

This device still looks (to me) to be so much more appealing than the 3DS.

Gears of War 3 review: The damage done

Sep 15th 2011 8:40AM (Joystiq)
Melancholy?! Respect and grace...subtlety?! You played Gears of War 3, right, not some other game. Either you are partly crazy or this is a very different game than the others. I'm not saying you can't love the game(s), heck, I had lots of fun with 1 and 2, but there is NO emotion attached to them. The story and characters, at best, are tolerable.

So I don't know what world you live in, perhaps threre are other people there (SOMEbody reads those GoW books) but I think I will look over a few other reviews if its okay with you.

Ni No Kuni PS3 finally dated in Japan, still not announced anywhere else

Aug 24th 2011 1:05PM (Joystiq)
I was just about to post the same thing, wondered what happened to it. Hopefully there will be some miracle of US/UK localization.

R2D2-style Xbox 360 Kinect bundle rolling out for Kinect Star Wars [update]

Jul 21st 2011 3:47PM (Joystiq)
Ok, just for perspective: I think still fawning over Stars Wars is dumb. I think that the Star Wars Kinect game looks lame. I have a Kinect and think for the most part that it is a waste of money for me. I don't like the 360, I just don't....

...but dude, this looks sweeeet! Seriously, I'm impressed. R2D2 console with a C3P0 controller, I can't hate on this, it looks like one fine piece of collector electronics.
