Wii closing in on the 360's U.S. lead
Jul 17th 2008 10:34PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Microsoft has to sell the 360 at a certain price, but even so it is costing them more to produce the 360 than they are selling it for. Microsoft gets their profit from the games. Think about it, one game on a little cd costs (here in Australia 100 dollars) so around 50 or so in America. It doesnt cost that much to put a game on CD/Dvd so that is where they get their profit on.
Nintendo is making a profit on their console because it doesnt cost much to make. Here in Australia the wii costs around 400, so say if its around 200 to buy in America then Nintendo could be making them for around 100-150 dollars per console. Nintendo is making their money through the console prices AND the games.
So next time you should think about what you said and look into how much those companies are spending on making a console, Microsoft is losing out on their consoles, it's the games that they get their profit on. It has always been like that, the Wii is the first ever console to actualy make a profit on through the console itself AND the games. All other consoles in the past and present (incl 360 and ps3) have been at a loss to the companies in cost production.
Wii Warm Up: Mii Maker
Jul 3rd 2008 10:40PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Seriously Nintendo, you can do this, and then simply make it compatable with newer games. Older games shouldn't be an issue because it copies your mii exactly from the mii plaza or overights the clothes that it wears (ie mario and sonic at the olypmics don't show pink covererd skin do they?)
Look at the ps3, they're now implenting something like Mii's, but of more variety and looks way better. Keep up with the trends Nintendo otherwise opportunities to stay on top are going to pass you by and the other companies will fly past.
Nutrition prof: Wii Fit is 'misleading'
May 21st 2008 8:22PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Nutrition prof: Wii Fit is 'misleading'
May 21st 2008 8:21PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Read the manuel! It says in there its not meant for kids or bodybuilders.... because like you said muscle weighs more than fat. So if you know you got a healthy BMI then don't bother weighing yourself because you know you've got muscle!
This is supposed to help you get Fit! Or get started on exercising. If you already are fit then why would you bother playing?
I'm sick of people trying to find reasons to badger Nintendo about this. "Oh my god it called me fat!" "I'm gonna tell everyone in the world this is wrong!"
News flash: BMI has been around for years and if it wasn't really useful then it wouldnt currently be used around gyms and health places anywhere. BMI is used to calculate your weight in accordance with your height. If it is "overweight" then it may lead to health problems in the future. Google it up. Because obviously this doctor can't tell you anything if he can't even read the manuel.
I am truely sick of people complaining about Wii Fit calling them fat. Honostly, complain about something else. These are the same people who were saying Cookie Monster of sesame street should eat carrots insted of cookies because it's gonna influence kids to eat unhealthy. Or saying that Santa is not allowed to say "Ho Ho Ho" anymore because it's refering to females being called a bad name. Seriously what is this world coming to?! With Wii Fit... if you get on a normal scale it's gonna tell you the same thing. So you kids who are being called fat, I guess you've never stepped on a scale before have you. Or is it actually that words make more sence than numbers (ie, you can understand what obese means, but you cant understand what 200 pounds or 100 kilograms means)
