Ninja Gaiden 3 users report trouble redeeming Online Passes

Mar 20th 2012 3:07PM (Joystiq)
It will be an interesting day when the population finally fights back and stops supporting games/developers/publishers who use online passes, on-disc DLC and other ridiculous modern day gaming conventions. I just hope it when it happens, there's a true renaissance in gaming. Business or no business, you've got to treat your customers with respect.

Hate the fanboy wars because not matter how much everyone complains about MW3, they all rage against BF3 for the same deficiencies and yet dismiss them in MW because "its always been like that"

Call of Duty Elite premium membership explained, mobile apps incoming

Sep 2nd 2011 5:00PM (Joystiq)
Guys, think about this, even if you get the Hardened Edition and save huge on the subscription, if the DLC needs the subscription to remain valid, even if you don't buy next year's COD, you'll need to pony up $50 to keep it, if you planned to play the game for three years, (even assuming the Hardened Edition purchase first), you're looking at $120 plus the game. I'd want confirmation first that if you stop subscribing, you retain any DLC you got during the subscription. Otherwise, you're better off buying the bits and pieces you actually want. Plus deals of the week, etc for the stuff that was borderline.

Call of Duty Elite premium membership explained, mobile apps incoming

Now, didn't they say that to keep the content, you had to keep subscribing? So in other words, if you want to keep the content in one year, even if you got the hardened edition, you'd need to spoon out $50.

So what they are essentially trying to do is make the game sell for $110 ($60 base plus $50 membership) to keep you getting the new version of COD while retaining your old DLC otherwise if you stop, you lose it.

As a marketer, its pretty ingenious. You get enough people on the service and they will continue to subscribe. Can you imagine losing two or three games worth of DLC because you didn't pony up for the Elite membership?

I scored "The Detective" with a space in between and everything since I was lucky enough to get in the beta test. Simple, clean, would never want to change it. Good luck to all those that do though. Hopefully, the one you want is out there

Riccitiello details EA's three-point plan: IP, Platform, Talent

Jul 27th 2011 2:31PM (Joystiq)
I'm not a fan of Origin in the least, but it kills me when everyone wants Steam to be the defacto digital distribution platform.

I like having choice, and while I'm not a fan of exclusives, I don't Steam to be "the platform". I want competition and I like having choice and I'll sacrifice some convenience to keep choice.

Report: NBA Jam creator Mark Turmell leaves EA to join Zynga

Jul 14th 2011 3:42PM (Joystiq)
Does anyone get the feeling that Zynga is probably overpaying to get guys to move because they've got huge cash flow? Don't get me wrong, we know Zynga is a beast in the online space for better or worse, but this strikes me as people getting offers to good to ignore rather than moving because its a logical change
