Valkyria Chronicles 2 rolls out DLC later this month

Sep 14th 2010 12:53PM (Joystiq)
I'm glad they made a formal announcement to share the excitement, but this news was in the online manual that released with the game. Thanks for the new code though.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 listed on Sega TGS schedule

VC2 is excellent on the PSP so I wouldn't mind a PSP sequel if that is the only way to get a VC fix. But here's hoping for a PS3 release.

So what're those giant sword silhouettes? Funky lancer weapon or new armor tech weapon?

Engadget's back to school guide: E-readers

Aug 13th 2010 3:27PM (Engadget)
I love my Nook and I think it beats out the other e-readers currently available in terms of functionality and design, with one exception: Note taking is a pain with the Nook. It works fine, but it is very slow if you're trying to highlight specific areas or insert notes into specific spots. I can't imagine using the Nook for school unless you just don't take notes in what you're reading, or if you're prepared to take them separately.

Apple uses third-party app screenshots in patent applications, world erupts in hysteria

Aug 7th 2010 4:14AM (Engadget)
@Nilay Patel

It's just bad journalism to leave out critical information such as the importance of a spec and justifying it by saying that it's un-needed information. It shows either a lack of understanding of the subject matter or a biased agenda.

This whole thing is a tempest in a teacup. But Engadget would be a better site if you guys were more thorough about posts like this.

Apple uses third-party app screenshots in patent applications, world erupts in hysteria

Aug 6th 2010 8:36PM (Engadget)
This article really oversimplifies the situation. Specifications are extremely important in both writing claims and getting them allowed. Saying that only the claims are operative, and thereby implying that the specification doesn't matter so much, is simply incorrect. The spec, among other things, is used to prove that the claims are patentable.

While I agree that it's really not a big deal that Apple is using these images, at least get your law of the game dude to opine if you feel the need to defend Apple so you can do it properly.

Demon's Souls' brand of punishment proves potent in the UK

Aug 4th 2010 3:12AM (Joystiq)
@Shadowbender

I haven't played Heavy Rain so I can't comment. Both GoW3 and DS are awesome games, but totally different. DS is a love it or hate it game though; if you hate it you'll probably quit before your first play through. If you love it you'll be replaying ad infinitum because it is weirdly addictive. It's kind of like playing an MMO where you want to keep grinding and farming, you know it's repetitive, but you can't stop yourself.

If I had to decide I'd go for GoW3, even though I love DS, but only because I am a big fan of the first two GoW games (plus the PSP one).

Atlus to maintain Demon's Souls servers until 2011

Jul 21st 2010 6:40PM (Joystiq)
It's a great game even when you're playing off-line, and now that it's cheap it's still a good deal even if the servers were shut down today.

Review: 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour hatches a new niche

Apr 7th 2010 1:54PM (Autoblog)
My reaction to the Crosstour when I saw photos was that it was really ugly. I was in a showroom recently and IMO it looks better in person and up close. I did a test drive and the thing drives like a dream for the type of car it is. Other than the poor rearview (spoiler blocks your view), it basically drives just like a regular Accord. The interior is really nice too. My take was the same as the review; the driving experience is so nice you start to overlook any objections you have to the styling. The storage didn't bother me; this type of car isn't what you buy if you want to really lug stuff other than kids and groceries around anyway. What killed it for me was the sub-par mileage.

Honda has been taking risks with it's aesthetics lately, but they're still good cars. I'm not surprised it's selling.

What I want to know is, where can I get one of those Raiden action figures?

TGS 2009: Hands-on: Valkyria Chronicles 2

Sep 28th 2009 1:33PM (Joystiq)
Valkyria Chronicles is probably my favorite game of this generation, I'm glad to see a sequel, although I would've preferred it on the PS3.

My question is, do you still have to watch the enemies turn in real time? That was always kind of annoying, especially later in the game where the enemy has a ton of CP.

One interesting bit in that trailer. About 1:30 or so there are multiple friendly troops moving at once, all with different colored health bars. Could that be co-op?
