Heard@GDC: no Unreal Engine 3 on Revolution

Mar 28th 2006 1:58AM (Joystiq)
According to Revolution Report as of January this year when they talked with ATI, the "Hollywood" GPU in the Revolution is not reflective of PC technology and was built from the ground up specifically for the console.

I'm not sure if much else is known publically at this point. Last year in an interview with Dutch magazine [N]Gamer, senior director of marketing Jim Merrick / Nintendo Europe is quoted as saying: "Regarding the specifications, we will probably never 'release' this information as we feel that it is largely irrelevant."

First shot of Factor 5's Lair for PS3! [Update 1]

Enigma on the tech demo, wait until after the duck demo to see what I was talking about. There's a couple of more animations we haven't seen previously that were shown at GDC 2006. The water and fish at the end is impressive, but the FPS demo was a little ho-hum in my opinion. What's really interesting is you get to watch someone using the PS3 hands on!

Regarding Lair, I think it's going to be a great game and the graphics have the potential to be really stunning. Let's hope this is gameplay.

The closest game you can compare it with on the 360 would be Project Offset (working title) that also featured an impressive looking dragon in their GDC presentation. If I'm not mistaken IGN has demos if anyone's interested.

No Rare titles on Nintendo's Virtual Console?

Not having Goldeneye 007 is a major disappointment. It is by far one of my all time favorite Nintendo games.

First shot of Factor 5's Lair for PS3! [Update 1]

I have to admit, the picture is stunning. But I have some doubts whether or not it's from actual game play.

Anyone catch this other PS3 tech demo? After the duck demo mind you. It's not anywhere near what we're seeing for Lair, although this is JUST a demo.

If you caught Major Nelson's blog last week, there was an shot he caught pre-show where you can clearly see a Playstation 3 demo system operating Windows XP

Nintendo on Revolution worldwide launch: "We don't think it's necessary"

Mar 27th 2006 9:04PM (Joystiq)
Microsoft's ambitious plan to release worldwide, while although interesting if they could have pulled it off, instead only frustrated those who could not get consoles where they were most wanted and instead offered too many consoles where they were least wanted. I think a staggered roll out by territory would have gone off a lot more smoothly. Sure Microsoft will point to component shortages are the real issue, but you have to account and plan for problems such as that. I also believe if you stagger the roll out, those that receive the consoles later, will have much better launch selections.

Does know if these will work with MP3 or will you have to convert to ATRAC?

When is the Series 3 coming out anyway? My Series 1 finally died, and I was hoping to go straight to Series 3.
