i guess it's a MGS reference? Do I have to read pts 1-3? It just seems so boring!
At least the real MGS had voice acting and great graphics... This just seems like a wall of scribbles...

Edge analyzes Wii, PS3 review scores

Apr 8th 2009 9:25PM (Joystiq)
The problem with the Wii is that its games are not reviewer friendly.

Except for the very top tier of games, most games follow established
designs successful in the platform.

With PS3 and 360, the success are in FPS and action games that are
the familiar grounds of the hardcore. You can buy an established
engine and throw together a me2 game that will get ~60's in the
review cycles. Because the developers are often hardcore gamers that
come from the same background as the reviewers, so it's easier for
developers to figure out what would work for the reviewers.

With the Wii, Nintendo established a pattern of success with the
casual market. Developers, trying to follow the success formula,
target the same group. But, they are at a loss developing for for a
market that they do not understand. At the same time, they are
further penalized by reviewers who frown on the casual to begin with
and lose even more points that way.

Also, no few reviewers automatically deduct 10 points (or the equivalent) if the game doesn't support HD graphics (it's modern age of gaming and all must have certain standards for immersion, blahblah), so not surprising at all
