Netflix: PS3 disc must remain in system until 2010 update; and other answers to your pressing questions
Oct 27th 2009 3:12AM (Joystiq)If your too lazy to that.. then I bet your over 30 stone (420 pounds). Honestly. Changing a disc is not a problem, most people do it every time they want to play a different game. Another argument here, is about people who complain about having 2-3 disc games. That is kind of annoying. But hear me out as to why. Actually shut up and read first.
Imagine playing a game, been playing for a couple of hours, all comfy in your chair, bed what ever your playing in. and then boom "Please insert disc 2". So you got to get up, and go change that disc, and again depending on the discs. Though that would not affect me (Not just because I only have a PS3) as I stand up the whole time while playing games (Seriously). Why? Because of where my TV is xD. I end up standing dead still for a few hours. So changing discs would not bother me.
So, as for actually changing discs, in the middle of a game, and after a game, it's completely different. I remember a couple of PS1 games that did this (Driver for example) But then, putting one disc in, and leaving it in until your finished. Is much better than changing disc mid game don't you think? With the netflix disc, you can stream however many Movies are available, that's not like swapping discs for different Movies is it? I mean heck, if you purchased the console solely for netflix, their is no need to change the disc, ever. All you'd have to do is set your PS3 up, in the corner, plop the disc in, and bob's your uncle, done, you'll never have to take it out again. Kind of like as if it was built in. Clearly no one would do this (Well maybe one or two people). So the argument of saying it's just like swapping discs, mid game, is invalid. Simply because, there is no NEED to do so, where as, with a multi-disc game, their is a need to do so, without being able to avoid it. It's not the case, of not wanting to, but more the case of it being an annoyance.
Everyone changes discs anyway, so to be honest, I don't see what all the fuss is about, so what if you have to change a disc? Is the world going to end if you change the disc? Chances are, no. (Unless, your console, shoots massive nuclear(s) around the world when you put in a disc..) Other than that, there's no real excuse as to not go change the disc.
You have to put a disc in something all the time, so quit whining about it. It doesn't matter if it's on XMB or not, you still get the same thing as you would if you did have it on XMB I'm sure, also it's not like your paying extra, as you can get the disc for free.
That "robot" they seem to have interviewed clearly said it would come at some point to XMB, so this argument is completely stupid. As if your that fussed about it being on disc, then wait it out.
Now, as for Netflix finding a way around a contract, no worries. Happens all the time, I doubt anyone will be suing anyone for it. As even in a court of law, it will clearly show that they didn't break the actual contract. Hence "workaround".
As for PSN being crap? Your talking out of your ass. Honestly. I've used PSN for 2 and a half years, without problems, so it's either a problem on your end, or your just BS'ing.
Now as for moving the console, while your playing a game, it's true. I actually flipped my console around a couple of times to show that a game can still work while being moved to a friend while he played a game, it was fine. (Litterally, threw it up, and let it roll over, only the cables got tangled).
So to sum it all up.
Your arguments, are pointless.
PSN, is not crap.
No one will sue anyone.
Yes a console can be moved while playing games.
