PS3 doesn't do 1080i?

Nov 16th 2006 3:30PM (Engadget)
"Porsche 911: Due to content protection, HD movies with full 720p/1080i/1080p will be viewable through VGA only. This is to prevent HD movie piracy. You should get your facts straight"

HAHA....dude, you obviously don't know anything about the 360 (but you are upset that the PS3 is gimped). FACT - 1080i: Component cables work for movies and games. 1080P: Component cables work for games but VGA cable is required for movies. Go back to to "ps3istheroxorz.com".

"Porsche 911: Get your facts straight."

Dude, if you tell people to get their facts straight you might want to have them straight yourself!

The 360 HDDVD player can display all the way up to 1080i via component cables. The DVD drive also scales DVD up to 1080i.

Boom! Sit down.

Zune review

Nov 15th 2006 1:30PM (Engadget)
I don't think you understand firmware and upgradability (b/c it is something the iPod does not do). The Zune you buy today will continue to be upgraded via firmware. Advantage: Zune.

My post got cut off. Here was the rest:

One thing to point out though (and I don't believe I saw much mention of this in the review): THIS THING IS GOING TO GET FEATURES ENABLED LIKE CRAZY VIA FIRMWARE UPGRADES. This is a major competitive advantage over iPods/other MP3 players. MS has done a great job upgrading the 360 (see Video marketplace, etc) and the Zune will follow in the path.

12 months from now, the Zune will be a VERY viable platform.

Believe it!!!

Very good review. I am not an iPod owner (I don't own any MP3 player) but this Zune platform interests me. I am going to wait until at least the second revision before I buy. Actually, they would have my $ in a heart beat if they launch a xbox portable/zune combo that tied into my 360.

Xbox 360 fall update in a few pictures

Oct 31st 2006 2:53PM (Engadget)
I got the update this morning - very nice. The biggest thing I noticed is that the whole dashboard is a LOT faster now. The blades move quicker and there are not image glitches. Very nice. Can you imagine how well tuned this thing will be in 3 years? Amazine.

I'm looking forward to the Wireless headset.

Michael,
This news was broken by Famitsu (sp?) - a Japanese magazine. Thus, Japanese pics. That wouldn't be a very good marketing technique anyway...

The price ceiling for PS3 games is under construction

Jun 28th 2006 1:36PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Think about it...BluRay Discs cost more than DVD's (how much more, I honestly don't know). So if Sony sold games for $59.99, who in the supply chain would take a cut in their profit margins? The publisher? No, that would piss them off and they would turn to the Wii and the 360. The retailer? Heck no. The PS3, 360 and the Wii will be fighting for every inch of shelf space. Never piss off the retailer. Then will Sony take the hit to their profit margins? They are already losing, what, $300 per PS3 sold? They want to make every dollar they can with software.

Conclusion? Sony will jack up prices and charge, at a minimum, $69.99 for games.

The PS3 story keeps getting sadder and sadder for fanboys.

Adams Briscoe:
Did the OPM article hint or say that this game is coming to the 360, or are you just making an educated guess?
