IGN reviews are usually good at filling white space by listing feature after feature and regurgitating previews. They also come off as more consumer reporty -- and are an incredibly boring read. It sounds like that's what you want.

It's an action game with elements of Twin Peaks and survival horror. Plus it's got a good shooting/light-manipulation mechanic and a fairly unique narrative style.

Would buy again for PC shinyness...

Someone didn't see the JTV live show of Notch coding a game from scratch. He is very talented.

Who says you can't develop a game with the unique approach of pre-funding before it's out. Of course features will be added! You're getting hung up on the nomenclature of the word "beta" and spouting negative nonsense.

You can always launch it as a 3rd party game through Steam. Not the same, of course -- but I particularly like the social aspect of Steam in knowing what friends are playing and vice-versa. TBH, I'd use my Wii more if it had such a feature. It helps facilitate discussion between friends.

The only reason to shop Gamestop for new games is if you like paying sales tax plus an additional $10-20. Those that don't like doing that, and don't like putting up with additional shady practices, shop Amazon.
