Zen Bound 2 arrives on the Mac via Steam

Nov 18th 2010 4:18AM (TUAW.com)
I think the game is better suited for iDevices. Even with multitouch trackpad support on Macs, it just "feels" more natural and responsive to handle the objects directly on the iDevice's touchscreen.

Apple teases iTunes event for tomorrow

Well, it's not apparently an "event" – no press conference or something. I guess they'll just throw a switch tomorrow and – hey presto! – free cake for everyone.

How about dropping Justin Bieber *on* Taylor Swift? From 1000 meters? Definitely messy, but surely unforgettable.

Mac Sale and MacBasket offer up Mac app bundles

Nov 2nd 2010 3:50AM (TUAW.com)
All very nice when you need yet another video converter, but I think the most noteworthy app in the TheMacSale bundle is BlitzMax, which is a rather easy to learn, yet powerful programming language with a lively community. Quite a few commercial games (and a few applications) are written in BlitzMax, for instance the Eschalon RPG series. And since BlitzMax's licenses are valid for all platforms it is available for, you also get the Windows and Linux version in addition to the Mac version.

Dear Apple: Tear out your optical drives

Oct 28th 2010 1:31PM (TUAW.com)
I completely disagree. Just because some bloggers don't use the MacBooks' optical drive that anyone no longer has any use for it is a fallacy. I use the optical drive in my 13" MBP roughly every other day – I usually still buy software and music on discs, I regularly (have to) archive data on discs, I regularly have to use data stored on disc. An external optical drive would be no option since it's too much of a hassle to lug that around in addition to my MBP.

New MacBook Air has many batteries, few hard drives

Oct 18th 2010 11:30AM (TUAW.com)
> Now that I look at it more closely and "place" the current MBP AirPort card over this one in the picture, it's totally possible that this is an 11" form factor.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Josh, but from measuring the visible USB ports it's clear that the pictured device has roughly a 13.something inch diagonal. I know there's a annotated variant of that picture floating around (e.g. on MacRumors) where they claim a 10.1" diagonal, but a simple calculation refutes this.

IndieCade 2010: Superbrothers' Sword and Sworcery EP preview

To explain this now seemingly pointless comment: before the post was edited ninja-style, Mike kept on calling the game "Sword and Sorcery".

It's "Sword and Sworcery".

Mac 101: Inserting or typing uncommon characters

Oct 12th 2010 2:49AM (TUAW.com)
It's UniCode. That's as standardised as ASCII and hence supported on all (major) operating systems. And unless your "plain text" email client only supports ASCII (which may be the case), the symbols should also be supported there.
