That is because you are too much used to the over saturated colors that component provides. I was in the same boat with you when I jumped to VGA. Everything looks so washed out, but the details were crisp and the colors are more vibrant to me now. I won't go back to component. Also with component on a DVD will only get you to 480p, but watching a DVD through VGA will upconvert that 480p to 720p.

Betamax->dead, Minidisk->dead, UMD->dead, so what is next to die? All Sony's own formats (being stupid and not bow their heads to join the standards) were and will be doomed.

I just bought my Samsung LN-S4092D at a nice $1884 and free shipping. Finally, I'm gonna have my own HD. No more going back to SDTV. Xbox 360 status: HAPPY.

Another of Sony's format that is on the verge of dying. Poor Sony, all these formats like BetaMax, MiniDisk, now UMD(I knew it from the start that it will fail) never succeeded because they want there own formats. They will never bow to unify to become standard as others. No, they want to be unique, blah blah. They still can not understand that.

I don't even want to talk about Blue-ray....ohh boy....next BetaMax.....
