DS Daily: Fan of the controls

Oct 14th 2008 10:22AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have two favorites. The first is The World Ends With You. Each pin has its own way of activating with the stylus though sometimes I want to move the character and I use a pin instead. Also, I haven't quite mastered the use of the partner and the D-pad yet.

The other game is and old forgotten one titled Lost Magic. You play a young wizard who has to save everybody and you have to use use magic spells by drawing a symbol on the touch screen. There are 18 different symbols that you learn through the game and you can one, two or three of them in any combination. There is a total of 360 pells in the game. The only flaw is that every battle in the game is limited to 5 minutes which you see counting down. That is why I havn't beaten the final boss yet because she is tough an 5 min has not been long enough.

DS Daily: Will you get it?

Oct 5th 2008 1:38PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I think it will depend on how what games come out for the DSi if they are DSi only and how well my current DS is holding up.

I have had my DS for over a year now and as I take real good care of my electronics it is still in perfect working order but everything falls apart.

Then again, I still have my GBSP in its case somewhere...

DS Daily: Sad to see the GBA slot go?

Oct 2nd 2008 10:20AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have a number of GBA games but I hardly play them anymore as I have all these DS games to play. I was thinking of picking up GH:OT but now I must reconsider. GH:OT is $50 and if the DSi is relesed early 2009 then I will be saving that $50 for the DSi if it looks to be a good upgrade.

I am interested in the music capabilities as my MP3 player will be in need of replacing soon. If I can save that money for the DSi and get a good player at the same time, i will be a happy player. Does anyone know about SD card slots? Are they used to expand the memory of the system as in more memory for music?

Also about the SD slot will that give the DSi PDA like abilities?

I got to say, stunning.

Looking forward to this.

DS Daily: Encasement

Sep 26th 2008 12:03PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have spent about $50 on DS cases. I bought 3 carrying cases and 1 Final Fantasy IV hard case that covers the actual system. I have also spent $10 on a very cool came gase that hold about 16 DS games in pages and another $7 on a smaller hard case that hold 6 DS and 2 stylises (sp?).

I actually carry my DS and the smaller hard case in my messenger bag in a pocket that seems it was almost designed to hold a DS and hard case.

I could have bought 2 or 3 DS games.

Whats funny is I did the same thing when I bought my Gameboy SP.

DS Daily: I think I'm learning Japanese, I really think so

Sep 23rd 2008 10:18AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I am taking Japanese in college and I think this would be a good supplement to my studies. I'm not expecting it to teach me everything, but to keep me interested and keep learning fun would be nice.

Collecting & Obsessing: Game & Watch (Part 3)

Jul 1st 2008 10:53PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
My grandmother bought me the Zelda game and watch when I was probably 8 or so and I still have it in a box of stuff. The case is a little beat up but I popped some batteries in it a couple of years ago and it still worked as good as ever. Seemed to be much easier to beat than it use to.

DS Daily: The sound

Jun 23rd 2008 11:17AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I haven't listen to most handheld games since I first got a gameboy color. Then I moved to the GBA and then DS and still I don't listen to most games sounds. I think what it is for me is that the music and sounds in Pokemon (which is one of the first games I bought for all three systems) got too repeditive for me. Most other games i will listen to for a while but after a while they become distracting and I pop on my mp3 player and listen to music or talk radio.

DS Daily: There's no time

Jun 13th 2008 2:01AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm right with you there man. There are two reasons why I put down a game early and that is dying several times in a row over something i should be able to get through and failing time trials and times puzzles.

There is a pretty good inexpensive game I got when I first bought my DS called Lost Magic that would be totally awesome use of the stylis except that every single battle in the game has a time limit of 5 mins. There is a lot of symbols and combos you have to remember and have really no time to use some of the best spells.
