inFamous 2 mission designer mode dissected on video

Apr 18th 2011 9:46PM (Joystiq)
I have the beta and it's awesome. One thing I really hope they can add (unless it's already planned) is the ability to do voice overs. Since obviously people who make levels cannot magically use Cole's voice or any other character for that matter, the dialogue is all text, which is off-putting (albeit necessary and obviously not the devs fault). HOWEVER, a compromise could be to allow players to voice over the characters themselves. If the VO's suck, players can disable voice overs (and in all cases text would still be required in case players disabled VO's). Top-notch VO's could be rated up on the community, and players could have filters where only the missions that have high VO ratings automaitcally play the voice overs, streamlining the whole thing. Just a thought! Regardless, this game is going to be awesome, strong GOTY contender for sure.

Portal 2 for PS3 Steam details: Steam Cloud, Steam Play, Steam-y

Apr 13th 2011 8:25PM (Joystiq)
@Ospov Over the past year Valve has become my favorite dev in the industry. I don't even consider myself a huge fan of Valve games, though I have enjoyed the Orange box and the L4D series greatly. But in terms of customer service, innovation, everything really, Valve knows how to get it done. Now how about that Ep 3? (obligatory side note)

Dragon's Dogma is an open-world action game from Capcom

Apr 12th 2011 12:13PM (Joystiq)
Love the premise, and Capcom makes good games, but I'm a but skeptical because Capcom games are usually arcade-ey in feel. It's hard to imagine them doing a truly open world fantasy game, but here's hopinh it turns out as good as it sounds.

Mass Effect 3 details emerge in Game Informer, multiplayer ruled out

Apr 8th 2011 6:29PM (Joystiq)
Glad to hear they are focusing their efforts on the single player experience. If ME ever got a multiplayer component I don't think it should be within the trilogy; it would work better as a spin-off title. Or... Mass Effect MMO? I've never played a subscription based MMO in my life but THAT I would gladly pay for.

I hope it's ore RPG-ey than ME2... I think I'm one of the few who thought ME1 was better than ME2, because ME1 felt more like an RPG with shooter elements, while ME2 felt more like a shooter with some RPG elements...

Also, Bioware, please get rid of that ME2 HUD which shows the portraits of your squad's faces right on Shepard's butt. Worst HUD ever.

Mass Effect 2: Arrival DLC review

Mar 29th 2011 4:42PM (Joystiq)
I bought this once I woke up this morning. This review is disheartening, but I would have bought it anyways. I had spare points that I wasn't planning on using on anything in the near future, and I could never turn down the allure of Mass Effect DLC (besides those stupid costume and weapon packs) regardless of what I hear about it.

Sega does its part to help Japan with gear auction

That Valkyria Chronicles poster art is so amazing. I want it so much but the bidding is currently at $305 and it's only gonna go up... but the more it sells for the better since it's for Japan and all. Man I wish I could afford to get that though
