Review: PlayStation Vita [updated for US launch]
Feb 13th 2012 10:52AM (Joystiq)According to reports by PSV owners (and the updated section in the link that you provided) some games not on the list actually do work, such as Valkyria Chronicles 2. So... time to update the update? Based on the other update, of course. Update update. Update. Up.
...date.
Why silly JRPG dialogue may not be a problem
Jan 20th 2012 11:25PM (Joystiq)To me this describes just about every Final Fantasy I've played in recent years. It's like Square's trying to be this "refined" brand with "stylish localization" and "premium pricing" that just ends up being over-priced awkwardness. They need to get over themselves and bring back that silly charm.
(The pricing comment, BTW, is in reference both to their iOS ports and their pricing in Japan. FFXIII's release-date price was 8,800 Yen, or about $95 at the time).
Editorial: 'I'm tired of saving the world'
Dec 29th 2011 1:33AM (Joystiq)I agree with Jackintosh; it sounds like you're just trying to shoehorn everything into your definition of "save," because "finding yourself" is not the same as "saving yourself." If you don't find yourself, you're still going to live, and still going to be yourself. Not finding yourself doesn't actually threaten you in any way. Our society likes us to think that we have to find ourselves or we're doomed, but that's not really the case. You may get some benefit from finding yourself (or you may not), but to call that "saving" yourself is just incorrect, because it implies you were somehow threatened in the first place, which you weren't. If it was, we'd all be in trouble, because people tend to find themselves multiple times as they grow and change over the course of their lives.
Or what if someone wrote a story with a character like the Joker from the Dark Knight as the main character? Main characters aren't always the good guys, and they're not always trying to save something. I kinda see where you're coming from, because salvation from something is a big motif in the human experience, but to say that's what every story is about seems like an overly simplistic view.

Apr 27th 2011 2:56PM (Joystiq)"they have all your personal information and can open a new one for you."
Really? Sony somehow obtained my social security number without my knowledge and stored it on their servers? If all you needed was your basic info to open a new credit card then no one would be safe, PSN user or not.
