Readers pick best webcomic: Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful

I like the magikarp one. That's ostensibly about video games.

And, anytime anyone gets pasted with a mace, I'm a happy guy!

Thanks for everyone who voted for us!

And for the guy who called the comic awful....I don't know what to tell you man, I guess it wasn't for you. And, I don't mean it wasn't to your liking, I mean it was for a bunch of other people, and specifically not for you.

Stay away, because the comics this week were just as bad, homie.

And the one that had nothing to do with gaming at all:

Thanks again to all my Dipswitch peoples out there. And congrats to Nerf Now and
Brawl, as a huge fan of Brawl, this series has been fantastic.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 revealed, intense [update]

Dec 13th 2009 6:21PM (Joystiq)
I'm pretty happy with the first one as-is, to be honest. The game was just fun for me, being a Star Wars-o-phile, and by letting the player be Darth Vader kicking ass was a low blow for hardcore diehard SW fanboys. (Like me)

I'm an admitted fanboy. I can see the good in the prequels, I also see the bad, but when it's all said and done, I saw all three in the theater. The first was okay, the second was better, but should have had a different Anakin, and I REALLY DUG part three. Except the 'she died of a broken heart' nonsense. Robot Chicken hit the nail on the head.

But this could take place in the years before the events of the first one while he's learning. OR it could take place after.

Who knows. I liked the first one, and will likely like the second.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup predicts the VGAs

Dec 13th 2009 10:49AM (Joystiq)
YOWZA!

Well, that was indeed a pleasant surprise this morning. Not the votes, though that's ALWAYS welcome round the Dipswitch offices, but the fact that AFJboree has a new comic out!

I mean, if you don't get it by now, you never will. It's like xkcd, how you need Wikipedia to get the jokes, only in this instance you need a textbook on Psychotic Corpophagia. Then, you understand that these comics are more like the smeared walls of our doody-interested friends, and have a clear message about the internet:

Suck it, bitches. Suck it like it has the cure in it.

And, really, in these tough times, we need some fecally sound advice.

Wait, my wife's telling me 'fiscal' and 'fecal' are two different things. Okay, well disregard that part. With a name change, I bet their comic will be winning the WWW someday.

Better writing, different art, different name...this thing's a WINNER!

(Thanks for voting for Dipswitch this week. :) )

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup wraps up the 'aughts

Dec 6th 2009 10:16AM (Joystiq)
Hey, yeah.

Well thanks for that. Actually the non-shading thing is a stylistic choice for most of the comics. I wanted to get the characters and pallettes down, so that the characters are a permanent design, and look like 'themselves' no matter where I'm drawing them.

Monday's comic has some shading, now that I've sort of cemented a style that's between 'Danny Phantom' and 'Family Guy/The Cleveland Show'/American Dad'. There's something about simplicity in those types of shows that really captures my attention.

Thanks again for the compliment, and congrats to Its-A-Me. Keep your chin up man, because seeing people getting hit in the chin is hilarious! :P

Best Comic of the Decade?

My best comic of the decade was for SModcast (by Kevin Smith)

Anyway, thanks for all the votes folks, have a good week.

Dipswitch did two comics this week. I think they're good.

Also, It's A Me, isn't bad, really. But learning how to do pixel art would help you.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is falling behind

I think I did better today than I did last week. I'm sorry the ha-ha machine was broken for a while.

Still working on that cure for cancer, though, so comic number 200 should be a hoot.

Here's today's comic:

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup has turkey on the brain

Wow, Darth.

From worry to love in just one day. Actually I had another gaming related comic this week.

http://www.dipswitchcomics.com/141

I thought it was pretty good. Also, BitF winning this week is both a great thing, for the sheer effort and skill/craft involved, and unnerving, because what the hell must we do from now on to compete?

Only one thing.

Cure cancer.

So, Dipswitch hereby begins its quest to cure cancer. And like as not with a jaunty tune!

(Congrats BitF, you guys definitely deserved the win this week.)

Heya!

Dipswitch had a couple comics this week, only one suitable enough for submission.
