In Canada, what you're saying about archiving for personal use is true, but only because of the levy imposed on CD-Rs, MP3 players, etc. is, in theory, supposed to go to music companies. IIRC, the US doesn't have such a levy, so music companies there get a bit more antsy about it.

What Bioware should do is take your Shephard's slider settings for his/her appearance, and invert them to generate Tali's appearance. Then, for the first week after ME3 comes out, people will be confused by everyone giving a different description of what she looks like :)
