Jan 5th 2012 4:01PM (Joystiq)FEAR 3 video shows off some high-powered sound recording
Jul 18th 2011 6:35PM (Joystiq)I doubt that. There are companies that will record stock audio from multiple mics and endless array of guns then they license out the library of sounds to developers for a small fee and then those developers tweak the sounds to the way they see fit for their game.
However some developers probably feel that it adds to the authenticity to have their own sound. Not just the end product but as an experience for the sound guys to actually know what it sounds and feels like when those guns are shot in real life. It's probably good for morale and gets them in the mood to be excited to work and keeps things fun. It also helps to keep people that love what they do working for you because you give them the freedom to do what they love. It's not free but I doubt it costs them that much money. And now it's become a good PR tool. Wins all around.

Jun 17th 2011 9:28PM (Joystiq)But more people do like it than any other game in the history of video games.
I don't understand what theoretical video game you want them to make. It's not like the Call of Duty games aren't polished. They are highly polished. They don't need more time to be developed. You want them to change the game? Why not just play a different game? I don't understand the complaining about an annual Call of Duty. I understand people complaining about Resident Evil games which have completely changed the franchise, but why complain about a franchise that stays true to itself? If you are bored of it then that's what other games are for but Activison's job is to appeal to those people that still want Call of Duty games not people that want something new, because something new can be developed by anyone.
Infinity Ward suit against Activision going to trial
Jun 17th 2011 6:56PM (Joystiq)I don't understand why people hate Kotick. People want to play Call of Duty, so they release a new one every year to fill that demand. It's what people want! What would be the advantage of not releasing one every year? Who would be happier? Because a 5 year release cycle really improved the quality of the Final Fantasy games?

May 26th 2011 8:17PM (Joystiq)He's done other videos with the same sort of humor through out the year. Doubt he wasn't excited to do this one either.
