Sep 20th 2011 4:40PM (Joystiq)No, I mean the levels at the end are much less interesting, visually.
Deus Ex Human Revolution review: Life as spectre, post-Spector
Aug 23rd 2011 7:23PM (Joystiq)You're not wrong, though I think "contempt" is a little too extreme. I love Mass Effect 2 -- it succeeds in so many important areas, where other shooters just can't -- even though I think they jettisoned a bit too much of what made the first game interesting.
Their priorities have shifted, which is fine when they make it work (and they did in ME2), but I'm definitely wary of that avoidance mindset. It says interesting ideas that aren't wholly successful should be deleted, rather than investigated further.
I think these thoughts came up because Human Revolution is not an event-filled tunnel that's been so refined that it couldn't possibly frustrate anyone in the world. Not to dismiss games like that, but you don't really have as much opportunity to really play in them. DX is challenging, emergent and has a few rough edges, and fantastic if you bring skill, patience and imagination to the table.

Jul 29th 2011 4:46AM (Joystiq)Sanchez-Crespo has been, among other things, a technology architect, and has taught programming at a university. I'd be surprised if being a CEO suddenly made him incapable of reciting or commenting on specifications of a devkit Novarama is using. A vitriolic rant doesn't seem warranted here.
