This will not shed a good light on the gaming industry... anti-gaming advocates will have a field day with this... this has sexual predator written all over it... if MS is smart they will have lion head remove this fast...

something more than a piss poor effort from the marketing team would fix the problem...

other than the economy the only thing that is hurting the PS3 and it's games is the mediocre marketing... pink slips all around and start fresh for 2009.... and contrary to the ignorant the PS3 year per year sales are solid... even with the 2 problems listed above.... if you don't believe me do some math.

really... we are going to have an attitude towards people that buy stuff on home.... everyone buys random crap in RL... including but not limited to infomercial stuff, exercise equipment that turns into a cloths hanger, 44 once soda's, misc kids educational toys that they play with for a day then never play with again, bad video games, random holiday jewelery, ties, socks, sweaters, anything to do with the Easter bunny, all of which cost substantially more than anything on home... and you won't get anything back for any of these items... when you decide to chuck them....

I haven't bought anything on home... but I'm not going to look down on anyone that does... and home is free you don't have to buy anything... so sony charging for some stuff isn't that big of deal...

you don't have to use home, and you don't have to buy anything in home, so cut the snobbery.

The first 2 on my list are required for online to work once NXE is launched... So if you don't by a hard drive that renders your 360 about 20% usable... because you are limited to only offline play... which is only 50% of most games... and you are missing out on all of the other XBL stuff. I wasn't even bringing up the failure rate of the 360.

wifi is only an option for those that have hardwire available... not for the rest... if you want to play games online paying for XBL is required... so not an option for most... rechargeable batteries... sure it's optional... but come on... I'd wager 90% get rechargeable batteries for there controllers. I'm just pointing out that the PS3 may cost more but you are getting a ton for your money... a lot more than the Elite even since it is the same price as the PS3.

after you do the math it is not... especially when you figure in MS selling a 360 for $199 that is not completely functional... infact I'd say it's only about 20% functional... since NXE will render all online content non-playable on the arcade... This is a deceitful and low tactic by MS... and it will only hurt the video game market...

it's based on economics... right now the yen and dollar are doing poor... look at the sales for the first two quarters... sony games posted a profit in quarter one.... but sold 100 million more PS2's and 100 million more PS3's in the second quarter and posted a loss... if/when the economy bounces back and the dollar and yen start to gain in value the games division will be just fine... it's not like they aren't selling product... it's just that product isn't selling for as much as it did.

maybe I'm wrong here... but can't you just use a standard USB hub?
