Personally I found season 1 pretty dull. Season 2 was a huge improvement and got better and better. But then when I watched the whole thing over again I was surprised at how much I missed the first time around. It's a great show and worth the effort. It's only 30 half-hour episodes.

Eva Amurri is Susan Surandon's daughter, that explains a lot.

That's fine with me. It's way better than cancelling one of the shows (well, maybe not better than cancelling Outsourced). I think, out of all of the shows 30 Rock will do the best later.

Cheri Oteri was the best on the show. They were all good, but I miss Cheri the most. Too Bad Jane Curtin wasn't there (and Gilda... sad).

Paul Brittain is my new favorite.

Good times. I had never watched ABC before that year, and suddenly it was pumping out some awesome tv. Also Arrested Development was still on at that point.

Good lord! How could they choose just one picture for the cover?

My favorite part was Annie chloroforming the janitor, Troy prancing around, Annie almost chlorophorms herself. And then Abed's idea was genius, except that it wasn't and Annie had the best reaction, "Okay that was the worst idea ever. Can we just run away now?" Then Troy trips over the janitor.
That was probably as good as when the Bluths kidnapped Rita.
And that after the credits scene was hilarious. Troy's "I didn't!... I didn't.."

I'm always more satisfied when I read the books from book-to-TV adaptations rather than book-to-movie adaptations. And I totally disagree about Pillars of the Earth.
Dexter and True Blood are other good examples. Seeing how they expanded the Sookie Stackhouse novels is great. And of course it's only the first season of Dexter, but it's fun watching the two stories diverge.
