Future Classic: Jeep XJ Cherokee

Apr 16th 2009 11:31PM (Autoblog)
I'm sorry autoblog but you're wrong. I owned a '84 and it was the worst POS I've ever driven. The vacuum system was a joke, master cylinder went out 3 times (each time leaking onto the fusebox below.) Every time i lifted the liftgate, the speaker cover would land on my head. The wiring harness to the liftgate frayed and had to be re-pulled through the frame, 3 times. The sticky blue vinyl seats that left a nice checkered imprint on your legs in the summer. Classy! The 105HP engine meant I could get it up to 70MPH if I really, really tried, getting 12MPG all the while.

All in all, at 140K, It mercifully died on a side road. I left it there, and called the auto donation line for the blind (I figured the blind were the only people that would take it).

The Merc S600 already has this. I'm sure it will be moving its way downmarket in the next few years.

I agree, I went in 2006. It's fun to see, but pretty slow paced compared to other destruction derbies. The complete lack of safety cage does make it interesting to watch though, and there is no better place to people watch.

Evan, Looks like it's time for you to brush up on your Constitution. Here, i'll help you out!

Article I, Section 8, Clause 3: "The Congress shall have power . . . To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes"

Article I, Section 8, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution, known as the Commerce Clause, states that Congress has the exclusive authority to manage trade activities between the states and with foreign nations and Indian tribes. Courts and commentators have tended to discuss each of these three areas as a separate power granted to Congress

Atlanta residents rejoice! Local ABC news going HD today!

A handful? Here in Seattle we already have local news in HD on three local stations (KOMO, KIRO & KING) Komo has been in HD since the late 90's... Unfortunately, the field cams are still in SD, and the camera operators still don't effectively use the widescreen format, but hopefully that will change soon.

The NYTimes has an article on this, including some past fire events. My favorite anecdote was about the Sony battery factory that caught fire.
