MSNBC asks analysts if $60 is too steep for games

Feb 6th 2009 5:54PM (Joystiq)
I have to say I am a lot more likely to buy two games at 50$ a piece than I am one game at 60$. Also I'd be more will to pay 60$ for a game if it came with its so called DLC like Tomb Raider and. Prince of Persia

Guitar Hero: World Tour tops Rock Band 2 in by 2:1 in 2008

Jan 27th 2009 1:12PM (Joystiq Xbox)
From my experience up in Canada, Rock Band whipped Guitar Hero. On boxing day I saw GH:WT kits by the dozen and it did not look like anyone was biting. From what I have seen these numbers are backwards.

Firmware 2.60 brings photo gallery, DivX 3.11

Does Sony know they made a video game console? I didn't pay $500 for a fancy schmancy photo slideshow machine.

Another update and still gimped chat functions over PSN. Thanks Sony.

"If it's obnoxious just leave."

Seriously? The point of having a comments section on a blog is for discussion and debate. Not for obnoxious brats to spout off words of hate.

Did I mention I own a PS3 and use it daily?

Wow. Because I have a different opinion you guys are voting me down?

Your undying love for the PS3 is kinda scary. I mean if it were a woman I'd suggest a restraining order. The way you guys defend it, you'd think I blasphemed your religion or something. Did you guys have too much Kool-Aid?

Just because you're subconsciously unhappy with the PS3 does not mean you should take it out on me.

@Tyler

We're clearly not talking about the same type of matchmaking. I was referring to when xbox live matches you up with players of similar skill. I went from that structured environment to the complete anarchy of Resistence and Socom.

Also I have seen PSN go down on a nearly day to day basis. When playing LBP I would try to play with a friend but more often than not the LBP servers were down. Just because my experience has been different from your apparently orgasmic experience.

"Even if it was, I know I am not paying for it."

Sadly, I would prefer a pay service on Playstation at this point.

Respectfully, I am not paying for ads. I am paying for reliability. It's ironic since I am on my 5th 360. I've only had xbox live crash on me for like an extended period of time last Christmas during that huge influx of users. This free service definitely follows the saying "You get what you pay for". I guess with Live I am paying for decent matchmaking, and a reliable service.

When I played Resistance for the first time I thought it was one big cruel joke. Then I played Socom and learned that Sony has no idea how to properly implement online play. At least MS has a history of online play with gaming zone, and a decent live experience on the first xbox.

Ok, seriously this "ads cluttering up the interface" argument seems to only be coming from people who don't actually use the NXE. If you do use it and you're making that argument, let me teach some NXE basics. The only bars you need to use on the on the NXE are "My Xbox" and "Friends" . I know it sounds difficult but if you get trapped on the marketplace, press up or down, or simply "b" to get out.

@DarthNemesis

The XMB is absolutely not the easy to navigate. It is after you have the console for a month. Teaching my stepfather to use the xbox took 5 minutes. Helping him just get hdmi at 1080p on the xmb took an hour over the phone. So yes I can dispute that.

Also lets say my friend wants to chat while I am playing a game. On 360, I can still play my game and chat. On the PS3, not only can I not chat, if I do it kicks me out of my game. To think the console is two years in and something this basic has not been addressed is embarasing.

Ok, I own both the PS3 and the 360. Hands down the 360 has the better interface. Heck I have to use the 360's chat feature while I'm using my PS3 because the PS3 is not capable of a chat function that spans across media, gaming etc.

Also the 360 is far easier to navigate. As for advertising I don't have a problem with either. When I go to the movies and see a movie trailer I not only don't mind, I expect it.

When I start seeing Pepsi commercials interrupting my gameplay then we'll have a problem.

Midway hypes secret title, claims looks 'better' than Gears of War 2

Nov 30th 2008 4:07PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Won't a lot of games look better than Gears of War 2 when they are released in 2010?

Here's a prediction. Mac computers are going to run faster in 2010. Look at me I'm Nostradamus.
