Guitar Hero World Tour bundle 'virtually' sold out, holiday demand may not be met

Nov 6th 2008 12:54PM (Joystiq)
I'm up in Toronto and I haven't been to a store that does not have Guitar Hero in stock. Considering I went to just about every store in town when Guitar Hero III came out trying to find one. I have no desire to get GH World Tour and I call BS.

Reminder: Fallout 3 survival kit and puppet joyswag

If I get an RPG every year with the caliber of Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Mass Effect, I will be a very satisfied human being.

Trailer Park: Getting Into the Halloween Frame of Mind

You'll always remember Jay Baruchel as the Led Zeppelin nerd? Wasn't he the David Bowie fan?

Watch This: Spielberg and Lucas Raping Indiana Jones (Literally)

Did Southpark go to far? Far from it. They never brought Shia in. In fact I would describe my experience watching Indy IV, in the words of Steve Coogan, like being *$&%ed in the face.

If you honestly didn't think Indy IV was that bad, maybe you should take yourself off cinematical's staff and head to Entertainment Tonight where everything in the world is awesome.

You have lost your objectivity.

Discuss: Are Male Critics Sexist Against 'Mamma Mia!'?

Jul 22nd 2008 2:07PM (Cinematical)
Again, I think the point is being missed. Don't blame the audience for being in the wrong theater. Blame the movie and its marketing for only appealing to females. My point is there are a ton of 'chick flicks' that I as a male enjoy a lot. Would this same discussion occur over When Harry Met Sally?

A good story is something anyone can relate to.

POLL: Was 'The Incredible Hulk' a Success?

Jul 9th 2008 11:17AM (Cinematical)
This isn't the first time I have seen business idiots try to use scientism to prove their point. I love how the first film is not taken into account here.

Someone needs to show them how a hot stove works.

When you place your hand on a burning stove you'll get burnt. After that happens how likely are you to be stupid enough to throw your hand back on it.

This 'should' be the golden rule of the box office. It has decided the fates of most sequels. If people tend to like the first film they're even more likely to see the second film (and invite their friends with them).

So if a mainstream audience is greatly disappointed with Hulk(which attracted a decent audience based off the Hulk IP, Ang Lee arthouse fans, and an excuse to see CG.

So when this eclectic audience gets burned they're not likely to go back. I was somewhat burned by Hulk (worse than a bad film, but a disappointment based from hype) so it took me over three weeks before I even bothered to see The Incredible Hulk (and I'm an opening night kind of guy). It was a tough choice against the Happening (with a similar dilemma but the IP is the director in that case).

Considering all of these items holding TCH back, I would consider it a success. Especially, if you consider the future word of mouth that will pass on DVD.

If producers, bean-counters, or other hollywood idiots would like a course in logic & common sense I would be more than happy to teach it. Maybe they'll learn the easiest way to make money is to make a good movie.

The Underwhelming 'Mutant Chronicles' Teaser

Jul 4th 2008 3:01PM (Cinematical)
I'm a tad embarassed to say I used to play the Mutant Chronicles board-game/RPG when I was like 12. It wasn't very good and I can't see how they could have built a solid story out of it. It would be like making a Warhammer movie.

I wonder if they could change the name of this movie at the last minute to Gears of War. It has the exact same aesthetic and the mutants are underground too!

Fan Rant: Why 'Wall-E' Isn't "Hypocritical"

Jul 1st 2008 12:00AM (Cinematical)
Ok, I just saw Wall*E and now I can't wait till it comes out on DVD where I have that awkward moment at the local B&L I mean Wal-Mart.

EXCLUSIVE: Tyler Perry's 'The Family That Preys' Poster Premiere!

Jun 30th 2008 2:14PM (Cinematical)
LOL @ MosquitoControl

I totally thought the same thing.

Do we need another amateur flick from Tyler Perry? He's the only filmmaker who is incapable of improving his craft (IMO). Even Uwe Bolle finally became self aware and made his films so bad their good enough to enjoy like an Ed Wood film.

I'd rather pass a kidney stone than watch another Tyler Perry movie.
