Because gaming's not just for assholes like you.

One million Americans have Just Danced

Apr 17th 2010 3:57PM (Joystiq)
The game is fun for everyone. EVERYONE.

If you build a game that mom, dad, sister and brother can play. That game will sell more than the game that was made just for brother/dad. That's why. Gaming is not just for 15-35 year old males anymore. Gaming is beyond that now. Third parties, and even first parties, know that. They're going after everyone else. And there's more money there than in the aforementioned market. Red Steel 2 is proof. Granted, Red Steel isn't HALO or God Of War, but those are the exception.

Now what do you think Ubisoft is going to concentrate on this coming Christmas? A Red Steel bomb or another Dance game? This is about business and making money. If I were a third party publisher, of course I would love to build a game like Modern Warfare 2, but some third parties don't have the money to produce a game like that, so you end up with crappy attempts, which fall flat.

Just Dance probably cost shit to make and they've moved a ton of units. From a business perspective, this is BRILLIANT. Their basically printing money at this point.

Regardless about how you feel, you need to stop thinking that gaming belongs to you and the types of games you like. That's OVER. Gaming is for everyone. You will get your HALO, and the kids can have Just Dance. In the meantime, stop whining about it.

'Project Needlemouse' is Sonic the Hedgehog 4; episodic on PS3, Wii and 360 this summer

If Yuji Naka isn't involved, I don't want any part of it.

Episodic? Huh? You mean I have to pay for each level? I guess that's good if you don't end up liking the game, $2.99 beats spending $60.

Still, without the father of Sonic (Naka) it's going to be a hard sell.

@j0e Who's calling this a netbook? It doesn't even seem like a netbook. And only compares in size, maybe. Looks more like the ultra portables.
