Ernst & Young, Microsoft to use Home to hold virtual meetings
Dec 31st 2008 11:41PM (Joystiq Playstation)Pre-order Killzone 2, get the demo or a theme for your PS3
Dec 31st 2008 2:53PM (Joystiq Playstation)You won't get any trophies, you won't get any stats for your character's online progression, you'll have to redo anything you did on the Demo, you know you want it anyway, it may be offered in Qore anyway, most Demos suck and the real game is much much better so you might geta bitter taste in your mouth trying out the demo, and you'll have no worthwhile evidence that you preordered it once the demo is released for the public. O_o
I'd rather get the outfit for Home. Hopefully Killzone 2 shoudl support game launching which means you just walk out in the middle of the public areas and your outfit kinda tells people "Talk to me for Killzone 2 matches"
Amazon FTW!
New book explains how Sony inadvertently helped make Xbox 360
Dec 31st 2008 2:33AM (Joystiq Playstation)1. Bill Gates stole the source code before it was patent for his first operating system.
2. Windows servers usually steal features from Linux ones.
3. Internet Explorer steals most of its features from Firefox who steals a few of it's features from Opera, and gets most of the rest of it from people that make add-ons but of course Internet Explorer is the crappiest.
4. Xbox hired a ton of ex Sega employees to make the original Xbox.
5. I've heard stories of all the coding from most of their OS being code from other companies, but Vista was their first from scratch coding, (probably why it blows chunks and has none of its good features from XP)
If Microsoft had just 1 more innovative bone, it'd have 1 in the entire company O_o
Pre-order Killzone 2, get free ISA/Helghast costumes for Home
Dec 28th 2008 7:38PM (Joystiq Playstation)Plus the outfit probably isn't availible just yet anyway.
Penny Arcade: Episode 2 features game-ending glitch, patch coming next year
Dec 24th 2008 3:22PM (Joystiq Playstation)Of course you don't know anything about the business world do you? You don't know about the importance of human life do you archon? Naw seems all you know is "There are plenty of games for me to enjoy, and there's more great games available than I have time to play, but I still want them to keep releasing them."
Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars gets update and price drop tomorrow
Dec 24th 2008 4:00AM (Joystiq Playstation)"We all agree here, and it's something on the board for the next update. It just didn't make it for this one due to time constraints, and feature lock.
Do any other games support this feature, and if so, do they show the opening logos/videos, or are they somehow skipped"
So it is something that they update. Motorstorm is also allegedly supposed to work. Also if Sony chose which games would work then why doesn't Resistance 2 work ASAP? Why doesn't Socom games work? Or even Little Big Planet? BECAUSE THE GAMES HAVE TO BE SET UP IN ORDER TO WORK PROPERLY!
The games that don't support it that launch, they don't launch properly as a game launch game launches. There's a difference between just starting it up in Home, and hoping directly into a match with 10 people.
Castlevania Chronicles will appear on the PS Store today
Dec 18th 2008 3:43PM (Joystiq Playstation)Disgaea 3
Eternal Sonata
Valkeria Chornicles
and a whole host of great PS2 and PSP titles.
We'll be getting a lot more RPGs next year. The PS2 is still releasing RPGs and we won't get most of them until that system dies.
Plus the PSP is released tons of great ones. On top of that the last 2/3 of 360 RPGs released this year were rated below a 7 on the Metacritic average...
The 3 above were much higher reviewed. Even though Valkeria Chronicles isn't quite a JRPG under normal standards and even though Eternal Sonata was 360 port the game has a lot of extra content that the 360 didn't have.
You could always try Penny Arcade. Seriously though no one should have bought a PS3 for RPGs unless you're like me and a HUGE Disgaea fan (which I wish every PS3 owner was) You have a PS2 for RPGs you get a PS3 for better action, adventure, and shooters. Cause face it, RPGs don't usually push hardware that bad.
So a jump to PS3 for RPGs is either for major graphical improvements (stuff like Eternal Sonata wouldn't have worked well on PS2), or new processing capabilities (Disgaea 3 with 100 floor levels and attack combinations)

Dec 18th 2008 12:54AM (Joystiq Playstation)Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars gets update and price drop tomorrow
Dec 18th 2008 12:35AM (Joystiq Playstation)1. Tons of great games everyone has a backlog
2. Busy Busy Busy holiday season.
3. So much competition every week.
4. (most importantly) they didn't add Home Launching? OMG NO!!!! This is is a game that could benefit SOOOO much from Home Game Launching. If only they delayed this for like 1 month and got that feature T_T
White Knight Chronicles receives a 29/40 from Famitsu
Dec 17th 2008 8:41PM (Joystiq Playstation)10 is perfect (even though it's being handed out like candy)
9 is freaking mindblowingly awesome getting close to perfection.
8. Is a really standard game with only a few minor flaws.
7. Is a pretty good game. Has some issues, but overall a solid title.
6. Ok... for fans of the series but not going to make people jump genres.
5. Umm... pretty bad. Major issues and needs reworking
4. Fairly broken, tons of issues, not recommended.
3. don't buy, don't rent, send them an angry letter.
2. Don't bother reading the review. Please just spare time.
1. If you buy this game you are one crazy freakin masochist.
That's how review sites do this... So what we have here is a reportedly Solid title that's fairly good (upper 7s) that could have used some improvements (thankfully patches means we don't have to wait for the sequel to see benefits)
So what's with all the controversy? It doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's a different story if this was a different game. I was pissed about the Disgaea series being rated 7.5 but that's because Gamespot rated the other games in the 8s, called Disgaea 3 best in series, and dropped the rating because they are graphics whores and retro sprites are no longer acceptable to them. *Sigh* The reviews could be worse...
They could be like Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant which are getting some 6 averages instead. Some companies just have a bad opinion on some games. Just be glad Gamespot.com wasn't the first reviewer, I disagree with them more than almost any other company.
