Rumor: More 360 price cuts in September

Aug 2nd 2008 3:09AM (Joystiq)
No, those aren't good points because all the games you are talking about would be better on a more powerful system and work better with a normal controller - the sequels prove this handily. They're being put on an underpowered system with a goofy, gimmicky waggle controller to justify its existence. Just like every other game that has come out on the system. We rightfully laugh at Sony for imposing tilt on us, yet waggling the controller to jump is AWESOME!!!! It's insane.

The waggle controller seemed like a good idea for certain kinds of games, but even those target games sucked due to poor sensitivity and the real hell of actually controlling them (like golf, baseball, the horrible sword games, and so on). Yet people still defend Nintendo's retarded decision.

I swear, Nintendo could release a console controlled by an ass dildo and you people would be screaming about how the new Mario controls great with it. Such fanboyism and 'good' Japanophilia (because Sony are the 'evil Japanese', while Nintendo are the 'cute, nice Japanese').

Yeah, but all those games will suck, the people playing them will get carpal tunnel / rotator cuff issues, and games can actually be GOOD again instead of being based on an over-praised and idiotic gimmick controller.

Logitech crafting 'premium' Guitar Hero peripherals

Jul 31st 2008 6:42PM (Joystiq)
I honestly can't imagine the kind of person who still plays GH or RB. Seriously, play a real instrument. It's a better investment of your time.

And for all the jackhats who will respond "Duh I'm gonna go fight in a real war instead of playing CoD4!!!" - please do. You need to go back to analogy school. Hint: when you're simulating something you're perfectly capable of doing (playing a guitar/bass/drums/singing), it's different from simulating something you're not capable of doing (singlehandedly saving the world from terrorism). Thanks.

Cursed Mountain: Survival horror made just for Wii

Jul 31st 2008 6:31PM (Joystiq)
Say it with me:

Resident Evil is no longer survival horror. It is an action shooter.

Similarly, Silent Hill is no longer survival horror. It's Buffy the Silent Vampire Slayer on the Hill.

Zero Punctuation apparently missed the actual E3

That's been the case with all these reviewers who complain about 'lack of originality'. The biggest rush of people writing about 'lack of originality' happened in the year when Guitar Hero came out, along with a whole slew of other new titles.

Understand that they don't really have a point, they're just using a point as an excuse to write dismissive and cynical stuff because they know there's an audience. Kind of like Olbermann.

Um, no, ZP has not become 'very significant' in gaming. He's just another reviewer, with no more power to influence gamers than any other. And since he's betting his whole existence on the "I'm so cranky and cynical and nothing is good enough for me" vibe, he only attracts a small (but obviously blindly dedicated) audience.

This 'review' sums up the nonsense that is ZP perfectly: his entire point is "hate everything, so you can be pleasantly surprised when something good comes along". Which is ridiculous, because what he doesn't recognize is that when you hate everything your enjoyment of even things you do like is diminished - because you're constantly having to keep your spirits down and hate everything else.

ZP was a fad, and the fad is dying. Thankfully. Each 'review' he posts receives fewer comments, and people are beginning to see that he's just a repetitive, one-note boor who's never accomplished anything significant. Basically, he's a critic. Throw a rock in any direction and you'll hit at least one critic. And do me a favor, Fink - throw it hard.

Red Alert 3 skipping PS3 due to 'exotic and tough' development

Right, the PS2 was still pushing games that competed with the Xbox 1 - right up until MS abandoned that system. Keep dreaming, fanboy.

They should just say what they mean: "We're stupid. Please don't give us any more development contracts."

Resident Evil 4 vs. Resident Evil 5 vid showcases scary similarities

Jul 29th 2008 8:55PM (Joystiq)
Um, okay chief. Try playing a Wii shooting game for more than ten minutes. Holding the controller out and trying to aim with it is not as fun as it sounds - and it doesn't even sound fun.
