Feb 26th 2012 3:44AM (Joystiq)Though i do agree with your point, the drawback with onlive is that it requires internet service to use not to mention its not physically yours to keep its just a paid license to play the content in their servers. I like the satisfaction of knowing that if their servers drop or if my internet is dead i can still play my games.
Granted it does seem pretty reckless to you to invest $40 on the same game on a different platform some people are just willing to do that much to play their favorate game under any circumstance. I have a few friends that purchased super street fighter 4 on both Xbox 360 and PS3 and bought tournament Fight Sticks for each console back when they were selling for $300 just for the flexibility of playing anyone who happened to be a fellow street fighter player. this has been and still is going on since the release of the Vanila street fighter 4. I slowly followed the same route but instead of getting a 360 version i went with the PC one since im a PS3/PC gamer.
Since there are times im rarely home, I never really got too much of a chance to sit down and really get into the game, that is until the 3ds version came out . The idea of playing one of my favorite fighting games on the go was just awesome to me i can practice my combos and timings away from home and learn to play the game better since i was trying to get more competitive. I actually did the same with Tekken 6 as well believe it or not when it came on the PSP and PS3. I got much better at that game as well for the same reasons.
So was that $150+ on Street Fighter 4 worth it to me? they all are still serving their intended purposes just as i wanted them to the differences between the versions were made very clear to me (PC being the best IMO visual + responsiveness, PS3 version for when friends are over and 3ds to travel with). I had a blast with the game every time i played each version.
So now UMVC3 comes out on the vita, a untouched console perfect port which even allows me to play against other people on the PS3 on the go? why wouldn't i want to get this? It doesn't seem right to sell the same game a few times like that, but i think that's up to the consumer to decide. The industry doesn't put a gun to your head to make that choice after all.

Feb 23rd 2012 4:00AM (Joystiq)My problem is that the game is predominantly a QTE event............ and when its not in a Cutscene or QTE event youre placed in a shooting gallery game or a simplistic beat em up.(literally you'll be mashing the light attack button, occasionally hitting the fierce attack to get the hordes away from you and the dodge button to avoid the big opponents attack if your not hitting the prompted inputs for counterattack until you hit that R2 button to get into the next QTE event.
Gameplay-wise its not very desirable but the events and craziness of this story is whats holding me. Personally i see little replay value in the game and on top of it, its short. more DLC is coming for the game but by the time that comes into play ill be on tales of graces or Street Fighter X Tekken or something.
Overall from what i have played so far, in my opinion ill say this is a good rental until any other more worthwhile game comes out.

Too soon: No plans for next PlayStation at E3, Hirai says
Jan 11th 2012 10:35PM (Joystiq)i agree wholeheartedly with what you say as i am also a PC gamer/ PS3 owner as well. I would love to see that kind of power finally be displayed on the Console.
However, but my biggest issue right now is that the creative potential has not been tapped in these current gen consoles. I dont care how great their graphics look if there's no creativity behind them then its not relevant in my eyes, Devs shouldnt be bitching over hardware limitations they should be finding more creative ways to utilize what they have at their disposal, I have yet to run into an okami or Shadows of the colossus or anything remotely close to comparable to them on the PS3. Until i see anything of that nature, i can just keep playing on the PC for better graphics i personally dont need a new console.
Back when the PS2 was dying the last few games it put out before its true demise (6 years, the last 4 years of its "so called" life cycle it was just a rotting corpse it truly sucked ) the system put out megatons and went out with a bang.PSone, SNES, and even the DREAMCAST all went out with a bang each with their own set of diverse unique games that im sure EVERYONE can and will always remember.
the 360 and PS3 i wont deny has had a good run so far this gen, there is still so much that's missing from the two that the previous gen consoles provided and i am still waiting for that "something" to finally kick in.
