Joyswag & Unboxing: Alan Wake PC Collector's Edition

Mar 13th 2012 11:53PM (Joystiq)
I missed it in 2010 because Red Dead Redemption and Split Second came out the same day which occupied my time for a while, and after that I was always waiting for the Xbox LE collector's edition to come down low enough in price but it never did.

New iPad announced, features 2048 x 1566 resolution [update: pricing and availability]

Mar 13th 2012 12:38AM (Joystiq)
What's the point in buying this knowing an even better one will come out in 2013? Eventually the public's patience for yearly updates will dissipate.

Alan Wake busts into box form on April 3 in North America

Mar 11th 2012 9:27PM (Joystiq)
I don't see any mention of the book or other physical extras. It would be typical for a North America boxed release to miss out on the best things justifying a boxed release. North America is starting to become a backwater for game collectors, what with Europe, Japan and Australia consistently getting the best special edition content.

I Am Alive review: Do not resuscitate

"You know your survival is ensured, because it was designed to be."

This problem plagues the Uncharted and COD/BF series as well as other games. That's why I increasingly prefer open world games where things are random and spontaneous enough that you don't know your survival is assured in a given situation.

SimCity saves heading to the clouds, bringing the game beyond the PC

Mar 7th 2012 7:51PM (Joystiq)
I suspect this game will try to shove Origin further down our throats. Cloud saving is of little interest to me - it doesn't even work well with Steam let alone EA trying it. So much easier to just copy a save onto a USB stick, assuming it isn't copy protected or some other BS.

Rainbow 6: Patriots development team restructured [update: Ubisoft partially confirms]

Mar 7th 2012 7:48PM (Joystiq)
Well, now I guess we'll just get the same stupid generic "stop the Russians/no-name Middle Eastern terrorists from detonating stolen nuke in New York city" plot AGAIN, for the millionth time. Sad.

See how the Vita's first-week sales stack up in this handy infographic

@EdMcMuffin I was actually surprised at how light it was. From the pics I expected something larger/heavier.

And to PSP haters, the system is still selling tons, especially in Japan. The PSP was/is the handheld system I've ever owned, no contest.

Rumor: Assassin's Creed 3 screens leaked

Mar 2nd 2012 6:53PM (Joystiq)
That's an elk in the pic, not a moose. The lack of ecological knowledge among gamers (and the general populace) is truly sad. We've become so isolated from our environment by technology and staring at screens all day.

MechWarrior Online unveils the classic CN9-A Centurion BattleMech

Mar 1st 2012 1:49AM (Massively)
This is the first redesign I dislike. Looks like an entirely different mech. Needs a proper head, round crest and especially please ditch that shoulder fin. I do think the mini shield on the arm is a nice illusion to the Romans.

MechWarrior Online teases with familiar voice

Mar 1st 2012 1:36AM (Joystiq)
This is my most anticipated game of the year along with maybe Tomb Raider.
