Marvel vs. Capcom 3 review: The premier in button-mashing mash-ups

Feb 14th 2011 1:02PM (Joystiq)
@EeK85
THANK YOU. I was scrolling down reading every comment on the page looking for someone to catch that before posting myself and I'm kinda sad it took as long as it did, but at least someone caught it.

Though, I guess since MvC3 has Steve Rogers as Cap it's still a slight continuity error with the main Marvel Universe, but I'm pretty sure this is an alternate one. plus it's heavily non-canon anyways.

Yoshida: NGP and PSP will co-exist

@ShinFuYux
So? The 3DS looks like a DS with an analog stick. exactly.
The NGP looks like a PSP with an extra analog stick. Sony followed the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" method here. and the fixed one of the two things that broke the PSP (lack of a second analog). If they can tighten up security to keep piracy to a minimum, then the NGP should be an excellent and well supported system.

Square Enix profits plummet, but loss avoided to close out 2010

The sad thing about it is that they haven't completely lost their magic. Dissida and Birth By Sleep are phenomal games, but they're on the worst selling console of the current generation.

They need to get someone to manage which systems they make games for. a home console Dissidia or Kingdom Hearts 3 would basically allow SE to print their own money. But for some reason they hold out on making those for crappy handheld games and even worse console ones.

Phosphor Games' upcoming 'Awakened' looks powerfully promising

Jan 28th 2011 12:00PM (Joystiq)
Looks promising, though it definitely needs some work. Some of the powers (lightning bolts, tornado) look like they're awfully derivative, though. what other game has those same powers and appears to use them in the EXACT same way?
inFamous and it's sequel maybe?

Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded review: More than a Re:hash

Jan 21st 2011 11:53AM (Joystiq)
The game itself is actually pretty good. I largely agree with what the review said, good combat, awesome leveling system, the new way they implement keyblades is a lot of fun, but the story is kinda meh, there aren't enough cinematics, and the camera kinda sucks (though it mostly only hurts platforming, which isn't a huge focus. most of the "difficult" platforming is for optional rewards). The ending and secret ending are the only parts that really add anything new and interesting, and I advise die hard fans of the series to at least check them out on YouTube, if you aren't going to pick up the game.

Ummm, I'm going to go with a 99.99% chance for no. Especially considering it takes SquareEnix long enough to make games without gimmicky controls.

@Japith
All this tells me is that you obviously never played IX.
Which might just be the best of the series (it is IMO)

Sazh was a lot of fun. he ended up in my party a lot mostly so I didn't have to listen to Hope of Vanille, but also because his Synergist role is amazing. He's pretty well characterized too. I used Vanille a lot because she was either a good substitute for Hope when I wanted someone with survivability or when I wanted to do a Fang-Hope-Vanille team for massive chain damage. Vanille was also pretty well characterized, but a lot of people hated her voice.

Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy dated March 22, 2011 [undecim]

Oh, goody. that's not all that far away.
I didn't think MvC3 would be hitting my shelf so soon, but I'm putting it down for a few weeks for this.
