@ShivanSwordsman I'm not sure what you're talking about with regards to private servers. EA only hosts a limited number of servers for BF2. There are tons of private servers that will remain operational after EA takes theirs down.
Now I'm not sure if the same is going to be true for BF3, but even with BF:BC2 there are plenty of private servers to take advantage of, so I'm hoping that BF will work the same way. At least for PC. I think consoles are strictly limited to the servers provided by EA.
I sincerely doubt the first troll who said this will live up to the original trolls comment, and even though the second troll was ignorant too, you won't even live up to that one either.
It will one day? And you know this how exactly? Oh, that's right you don't. Absolutely everything you've said is complete speculation. Origin is pretty solid for what is it, so is steam. I fail to see how having to use both puts you at a disadvantage. At this point it's a small hassle, nothing more.
STEAM does exactly what you "think" origin is going to do. When you agree to the EULA, you allow them to access your PC, update, upload and access your file system. They also have the right to install 3rd party cookies and links on your account. You are not an actual owner of the games you "bought" via steam. Agreement says: All title, ownership rights and intellectual property rights in and to the Software and any and all copies thereof are owned by Valve and/or its licensors.
Or do you not read those pesky little things?
I seriously don't understand all the fanatic love people have for STEAM. Yes it's a good service, but it's far from the perfect gaming utopia that everyone seems to make it out to be.
What's wrong with wanting 100% of the profits? That is the main point of business. I don't see Vavle offering their games though any other digital distribution services.
Has anyone stopped to think that maybe it's STEAM that is responsible for this? They do have a tendency to set double standards. When was the last time you saw any Valve games on the D2D, Gamestop, or Amazon Digital marketplace? They did pull Crysis2 from their servers because of some new contractual rules set forth by STEAM.
Turning back, a wicked grin cut across his face. He advanced upon the fallen enemy once again, standing directly above it's grotesque face he squatted. Crouching; Up and down, up and down, laughing manically. War takes it's toll on even the most stalwart soldiers, he was no exception. Often feeling more machine than man, being controlled by someone, or something. The sensation was inexplicable, yet oddly satisfying.

Aug 8th 2011 8:57AM (Joystiq)That would be a valid argument, if it were not for the fact that you can download EA games including BF3 on D2D, Amazon, and Gamestop.
