North Carolina deputy kills suspected PS3 thief and his dog [update 2]

Dec 5th 2006 3:47PM (Joystiq)
"World isn't black and white you know."

Maybe not always but criminals are...

Here's some facts:
Criminals ALWAYS suck--no excuses, no exceptions
Cops SOMETIMES suck

I'll take the better odds on this one. Oh, and the previous poster that mentioned how only real criminals truly hate cops is spot on. Think about it.

Oh, and in other news--bye bye Sony, let us know how Sega's gutter smells... Project Midway indeed...

Nintendo: Wii is all about fun, not teraflops

Nov 21st 2006 7:56PM (Joystiq)
I agree totally with all the intelligent comments referencing Nintendo's attempt to persuade us what we want when in reality it's what they want. All companies do this but I've never seen such blind stupid loyalty from consumers to any other company. I grew up on Nintendo too but they don't cut it anymore, they're stuck in Kiddyland. Whatever, the REAL reason I'm commenting is for chumps like the non-black Diddy above when discussing the spot-on PiPi comments relating this post's title to women. I had to chime in because your post sounds like someone that isn't happy with their doggy. I'm here to tell you geeks that you can indeed have your cake and eat it too. I am nearing 30, play games non-stop (current Xbox points score of 28000+) and am married to a smokin' hot babe that is above and beyond what I could ever imagined I could get. Don't EVER settle. Don't be happy with average. You CAN find THE ONE. Yes, it might not be the easiest thing ever (took me over a decade) but stop with your bullshit nonsense that graphics don't have to equal personality. Because they can BOTH blow you away. Nintendo's flat out WRONG and will be proved so by coming in behind the Microsoft, once again. That's if they stay in the console business (they will always make games). Now I'm going to go home to my wife and play some Gears of War--because graphics DO MATTER (quite a bit more than the nerds would have you believe)...

Zelda Twilight Princess trailer and title intro

No I wasn't kidding in the least. What's mature?--the opposite of Nintendo. I think the disconnect here is your childish assumptions that "mature" == blood and guts. I prefaced my opinion with the history of Zelda games to me, my favorite, etc. but that means nothing just because I happen to be a WWII buff and my favorite type of game is FPS's. In regards to freshness, I get what I expect out of FPS's, I love the strategy of employing techniques to shoot the other guy in COD2 online. You could easily substitute a dash of color instead of a bullet and trumpets for guns in a game like that and the visceral experience of cat and mouse would not change much. You kids are missing the points, I love all types of games but certain ones are my favorite. Why is it SO wrong to have an opinion these days? Why can't I like mindless action to relax after a long day at work? Why am I wrong to crave experiences which are a little more interesting than the sugarey sweetness of Yoshi or Navi? Why is it against the laws of fanboys to criticize Nintendo? I shouldn't have to define the meaning of the word "mature" to you but obviously you don't get it. When a piece of entertainment, be it a movie, book or video game, contains "mature themes" it means topics and situations that an older, more mature audience can relate to. Requiem for a Dream is "mature", All Quiet on the Western Front is "mature," GRAW is "mature." I want Nintendo to make a game that is "mature" like any number of mature entertainment choices that exist. I see that I am alone.

Zelda Twilight Princess trailer and title intro

I'm actually going to go with the lone dissenters on this one. I still have the box with the shiny crap on it and the gold cartridge (even the gold plastic bag it came in)--first game I pre-ordered ever. And I was not disappointed, TOOT was and still is the shite for a Zelda fan that grew up on the original NES, SNES, and Gameboy versions of the series. I remember picking it up at the mall and running into a girl I had recently met in college and I wasn't even that embarrassed about it because of how monumental that game was in the world of Interactive Entertainment. That game alone was better than EVERY SINGLE Playstation game, without question. I can still play the fishing portion just to relax. Long story short, I think the series has gone downhill since then. I didn't care for Majora's Mask, it was fun but the time stuff was too distracting for me and I never finished it. But Wind Waker turned me off to Zelda since they announced the look of the graphics--I have yet to even consider another Zelda title since. The combination of those ridiculous graphics with the Tingle shit from MM and now in the present Link's popular with the fruits and the title has "Princess" in it (the fairy stuff was bad enough in TOOT but that was a clever way to put a Help function into the game)--I'm out. I watched these trailers but it's too little too late. I would've been excited if this was 2001 or whenever Wind Waker came out but as it is they're just bland and boring. I found myself saying "That's it?" (OTOH, I watch the GOW commercial daily because I just can't get over the song/graphics combo--now that's fucking AMAZING) Same ol fairy help, same ol boss battles, shooting arrows, getting the triforce, saving Zelda. This is the game that Wind Waker should've been, but I'm just not interested any more. It's the same damn thing all the time, the series hasn't remained fresh--there's something seriously wrong when the two most recent Gameboy color versions (Oracle, Ages) of Zelda are more fun than the 3D console versions... On the other hand, I am beyond pumped for Gears of War and Call of Duty 3--maybe I've just outgrown Zelda. Gasp, I know, but I just don't get the same thing from this stuff anymore that all you Ninty kids are raving over. I wish Nintendo would grow up--just a little, it doesn't have to be THAT much. I grew up on Nintendo, why didn't they keep up or ever catch up? They can still have the Mario Plumbing Party 8328 games for the kids but why can't they just make a game that's mature? Not 3rd party or 2nd party, either. I want a mature title from Nintendo, created by Nintendo. Just one. Until that day, I'm holding off.

Most relevant Dreamcast titles for today's gaming world

I don't want to pour cold water on this project or rain on any ladies' parades but I just have one question for all of you Sega-loving fanboys: If it was such a good system with such good games, why did it die so quickly and force Sega to give up hardware? Oh, and sorry, but look up the actual facts, Sony DID NOT kill Sega (although they will be joining them soon in the gutter). See, companies have these wacky concepts some people might call "financial issues" but I don't want to confuse you lot. Basically, even if you are the biggest fan of a product in your entire little world, it doesn't necessarily mean that the company that produces said product is doing very well nor that the majority of consumers required to make said product popular and successful will do so. I know it might be hard to believe or comprehend as a fanboy, but just entertain the thought, that maybe, JUST MAYBE, your OPINIONS are in the minority. I know, I know, this is a geeks’ site and we are on the Internet but those of you whom have had success with women know what I’m talking about—oh wait, Sega fanboys…you know what, scratch that, you’re not going to get what I’m saying. Regardless, I'll say it twice because I know it's coming: Sony DID NOT cause Sega to go out of the hardware business, Sega got out of the hardware business by their own accord. Sony may have helped some but the sole blame is all Sega. Do some research and you’ll see. Down with Internet myths!!! Bye Bye Sony. Project Midway, indeed... Hello restored US dominance in the Interactive Entertainment Industry--it's been too long coming. The Japs had a good run but just like Capcom and Sega, it's time to humble what we created for them. Always remember, 2 bombs were required for surrender, THINK about it...

eBay's PS3/Wii auction cancellations are a good move

Oct 16th 2006 5:44PM (Joystiq)
You greedy sons-of-bitches remind me of when I see films with a certain solution being implemented and the people involved are worried about money and making deals as their world is ending and people are dying. Have any of you people that aren't Ebay scalpers ever met one yourself? I have and they're all assholes. Seriously, I have never met a person that would do this that is normal/cool and I've met quite a few over the years, whether it's concert tickets, video games, or movie tickets--these guys are the lowest form of life on the planet. Sure, they can get up early for the lines because they either have no life, no money, or both. That's right, I'm calling all you scalpers losers and I'll be laughing heartily when you can't sell shit and have to take a loss on your beloved Sony system. I don't care about the buyers, I don't care if it's a necessity or not, I just can't stand the weasel-like qualities of said scalpers. These are the same people that would see a handicapped person drop money and not tell them until they're gone so they can pick it up themselves. I don't care if a few people are dumb enough to fall for it, this isn't capitalism anymore, it's akin dealing with criminals. Might as well be a fucking back-of-the-truck sale. You people will burn in hell with Sony and all the other Japs with no souls! Project Midway, indeed...

Capcom squashes Clover, lights out for bright studio

Oct 16th 2006 12:56PM (Joystiq)
Ahhh, some sheep with a myspace profile no less (myspace + ipod == sheeple), starts flinging bloody insults because I happen to like different games than she does. Why no valid arguments but plenty of vitriol? Because my points ARE valid; I guarantee many people would agree with me. Not everyone likes the same stuff, genius, it's called having an opinion. If it's good, it will do well, period. Crap can do well too, but if it's truly good (Halo 2, GTA, Zelda, Pac Man), the masses will come out in droves. Did you ever think that maybe the reason things are popular is because they're considered good by a large number of people with otherwise different views?--I get the feeling you've never smelled a Clam. You can love Sony all you want, they're going down the tubes as we speak. Enjoy the ride to the gutter and say hi to Sega for me when you get there! Bye Bye Sony! "Drop the bomb on Tokyo!!!"

Capcom squashes Clover, lights out for bright studio

Just wondering why everyone here is so snobby--"You didn't like Psychonauts?--you have NO taste. Either you adore every indie game in the world and hate EA or you are not considred a TRUE gamer." Seriously, why can't an OPINION about a game be valid? I own Viewtiful Joe--it IS gay. When I first saw pics of the game, I thought it looked dumb. But I gave it a chance because there were glowing reviews all over the place and it seemed that the general consensus was pretty good. However, I disagree with the sheeple, it's a dumb game. I don't like it. Am I WRONG? No, it's my opinion. VJ was actually the last straw--I've made similar purchases in the past, based on reviews and word of mouth. Now I don't fall for it anymore, none of these gay sheeple "hardcore" games will ever get purchased again. Okami--looks queer. Psychonauts--ugly-ass art style, no thanks, I don't like collecting games any more (see most Rare/Nintendo games in that last few whatever). Beyond Good And Evil--"Wooo, we're so creative--a GIRL in the lead role of a video game, oooh, look at us, BUT NO VIOLENCE, we can't advocate that because the real world isn't violent at all, lions don't just take down cattle and sharks don't feed in a frenzy--the real world is a peaceful place with chocolate rivers and gumdrop smiles..." Nowadays, any time I hear all this "buzz" for a title that looks dumb to me, I make a special point to stay away. I'm just wondering why it's apparantly WRONG to have an opinion about games?--Gears of War LOOKS cool to me, sorry. They know their audience. I'm a WWII buff, I LOVE WWII. It'd be nice to play as the Germans just once but whatever, I digress. Back to the point, these quirky Jap games don't look cool and aren't fun, to me. I love FPS, fragging is MY idea of a good time. Can I help it if I like violence, shooting, and war-themed games? I like a varied mix of games but these are my favorite. WoW, RPG's, and dorky looking shite don't appeal to me, it doesn't make me wrong. I didn't buy Wind Waker because the art style turned me off (have every Zelda game before that--even the Gold boxed copy of TOOT) and I'm not touching Zelda again until they get away from Tingle and Princess in the title. Sorry if I have a pair--I bought Rez on day one, I love Lego Star Wars, I enjoy playing Katamari with my wife in all it's fruity weirdness, but "too wussy" can be a factor in some cases. Fuck you gaming posers, this industry was built off of twitch games by a mass market. Pac-man, Missle Command, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. Without the mass market buying into Atari and NES back in the day you wouldn't have a fucking industry today. Stop whining about EA and the "death" of innovation. This isn't engineering, it's entertainment. You can have your Segway, I'm going to play Advance Wars on the bus and maybe watch Kill Bill on my portable DVD player. Entertainment is derivative, get over it. Everything today is based off of ancient Rome and Greece--sorry to burst your collective wussy game bubbles. Rant off.

PS3 pre-orders open tomorrow at EB Gamestop

I know it's the center of YOUR universe but your simple situation with the 360 is hardly reflective of the rest of the world's, much less the current discussion. You're comparing apples to oranges--the 360 was 400 US Dollars at the high end and there was tremendous SYSTEM demand (not Ebay re-sell demand). Ask Apple Computers if price is a factor... Don't fuck with Microsoft and don't fuck with the US. Nagasaki, anyone?

Would you belive me if I told you I'm a T-808??? If Back To The Future isn't real then how is Sony going to create 4-D with only 1.21 jiggawatts of power in the ancient Crab Battles documentary? I thought the 4th dimension is Time...?

See Unit 731--those bastards still won't acknowledge what they've done. Remember it took TWO atomic bombs before they surrendured--THINK about it...

Watch and learn. Bye Bye Sony. Good riddance. Eine Kline Koonka Shine.
