They can't use polarized passive glasses because at the theater, they are using two projectors. An LCD doing something similar would have to have double the usual number of pixels, with each pixel twice as bright as usual, and with each having a tiny polarizing filter on it. Of course, you could just have a red/green anaglyph mode for 3d programming without any fancy tech in the LCD, just electronics and maybe a SHARC to take the two images and recolor them so that they look natural through the glasses. That way, you wouldn't have a 2000 dollar set and 900 dollars worth of glasses.
Man, this would be amazing for portraits and fine art work. At 200 a sitting, it only takes 55 customers to pay for this kit at 11,000 dollars. That's not too bad. I can do that in a month or two if I try hard. Now, I'm gonna need a 4000 dollar PC to chug through these RAW files...
Chromatic aberration on the London bridge shot is excessive for f11. My Olympus has much less than that, and has better sharpness throughout. I looked at many of the shots of the trees, could not determine what item was supposed to be in focus. Overall IQ is rather muddy and low contrast, with infinity focus looking like the only focal point that actually works. Just look at those white verticals on the bridge at bottom right. Purple fringing, red fringing, blue fringing.
If that's Leica glass, they've really dropped the ball these days. I had a few nice lenses from them years ago, but this really does look like a point and shoot. High ISO performance is decent but not brilliant. For the money, I'd take the Olympus E-P1 or the Canon 7d. Or, I'd just get the Panasonic G series. They're nice too. Sure, it's not the camera is a true statement, but sometimes a camera with minor defects can step on your toes and prevent you from getting what you want. This is a premium phone? Why does it look like a Nokia from 2003? It's a piece of crap dumbphone with lousy build quality, and it's a huge, chunky brick at that! It's gonna make a noticeable bulge in any pocket you put it in, your suit's gonna have to be let out, and it won't even dock in a Lamborghini, so there is no point to the cobranding. TAG, you're sh*t.
As a photographer, I can only imagine what I could accomplish with this gizmo. Probably something horrible and trite like giant sunsets and happy green trees. Yep, that's what I'd do with it, I would use it to take pedestrian, dull photos of forests and mountains and skies. Nothing interesting happens in New Mexico, so it's not like it would be Times Square at night.
This is a very handy thing. Would make a great office alternative to over-the-air radio. Getting very, very tired of hearing Lady Ga-Ga. Consider it a charitable act to give us this. It may even save a life.
