Nintendo of Europe stealth-announces Another Code R, Space Invaders Extreme Remix, dates Q2 titles

Wow, in the time it took me to write that, several Trace Memory fans commented. I didn't realize that game had such a following. Maybe I should prepare for a drubbing ... ?

Nintendo of Europe stealth-announces Another Code R, Space Invaders Extreme Remix, dates Q2 titles

I finished Another Code R a couple of weeks ago. I believe it took me around 23 hours. I never played the first one (on DS), so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I thought it would be an adventure game. In fact, it's advertised as an adventure game. It felt much more like an interactive novel to me, though. LOTS of dialog. Tons and tons of dialog. And, not particularly intriguing dialog.

The puzzles were simple, almost to the point of being a chore to complete. I kept expecting the puzzle difficulty to increase as the game progressed, but it wasn't happening. Right up until the final chapter. Then, suddenly, a couple of hard puzzles popped up toward the end. It was so frustrating, because the change didn't come gradually, but all at once. BAM. After 20 hours of tedius puzzles and mind-numbing dialog, I wasn't in any mood to try thinking through a tough puzzle; I just wanted the (very predictable) story to be over.

I think most adults would find the story uninteresting.

I really wanted to like this game. It isn't without its charm, and the production values are above average and sufficient for the genre. But I can't recommend it, because it simply wasn't fun.

Oh, did I mention all the dialog?

Get juiced for Ubisoft's 'Gold's Gym: Cardio Workout' on the Wii

Feb 26th 2009 3:18AM (Joystiq)
Mostly yes. However, three moves give me trouble: the game has trouble detecting left and right "hooks" unless I do them almost perfectly, getting the timing correct for "ducking" is a bit difficult, and "weaving" is really hard. Still, I'm doing all the moves even if the game isn't accurately counting all of my "punches", so I'm still getting the workout regardless.
