Wii Warm Up: Dracula's Choice

Jan 17th 2009 5:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The first is a classic and II's unique and fun, but III's the best for sure.

DS Daily: Old reliable

For me, it's usually Contra 4, New Super Mario Bros. or Clubhouse Games.

Top 5: Worst. Cutscenes. Ever.

Jan 12th 2009 1:07PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I totally believe that. MGS2's cut scenes (particularly near the end) are completely ridiculous. I still don't know what happened.

The reason I left it off is that the Top 5 is Nintendo-specific (with a few admitted stretches to the rule). This is almost always the case, unless noted otherwise.

True, Davo. The term "game" is used pretty loosely to describe just about anything you can run on a gaming console. We may need to agree upon a new word soon!

That's quite a bold statement, nameless wonder! Wii Sports may not be a Game of the Year, but it's undoubtedly the favorite activity of every non-gamer I know. I can go for a few rounds of Wii bowling at almost any moment.

Who knows, maybe Resort will be worthy. I sure hope it is.

Bury the Shovelware: 2008 in Review

Ooh, excellent point: profits vs quality. I should have put that on the list. Oh well, I guess it'll have to wait until 2010. :P

And I'll check out the grinch. I was debating on which to do for the Christmas-themed BTS, but went with Elf Bowling just because I was curious if they could honestly make a game based off of that. The answer? No, they couldn't.

Thanks for your comment. :)

Hey APHughes, I should clarify: not all games are considered shovelware. I use them for various examples when examining the traits of shovelware. Check out their articles and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for writing! :)

Bury the Shovelware: 2008 in Review

You're right, Nook: My DS used to follow me around constantly, as there was always a handful of games I was dying to play. It had been that way basically since I first got it. But recently it has been a little quieter. The last game that really sucked me in was Castlevania: OoE.

Hopefully, we start getting some quality releases soon. I'm really looking forward to Scribblenauts. And as a nerd, I'm obligated to look into The Lord of the Rings: Conquest for the DS. I haven't heard much of anything about it, which is somewhat troubling. But once DSiWare comes out, I'm hoping we get some quality and/or unique titles.
