SEMA 2009: Grunewald Racing Camaro sets its sights on 2010 Formula Drift season

Nov 8th 2009 10:06PM (Autoblog)
I liked the color combination so much that I recreated it in Forza Motosport 3. If you've got Forza 3 on the XBOX 360, you can download it from the Storefront.

PSP Go launch inspires three-fold sales increase for platform

Oct 8th 2009 8:23AM (Engadget)
I owned an original PSP at launch. The device was too big to take along for casual gaming. Between protective covers and UMDs, it never felt particularly portable. When the PSP entered a software dry spell, I sold the device and my UMD collection.

With the PSP Go, I came back. The new hardware is truly portable - takes up little more space than an iPhone. Best of all, no more fragile UMDs to protect and transport.

Yes, it's not "cheap", but the price point isn't outrageous. If you buy a PSP-3000 and a 16GB, you'll find yourself right in PSP Go territory. No one can argue that the usability and portability is a marked improvement over the old hardware.

You can get an 8GB iPod Touch for $199. It's a great device (own several), but not an outstanding game platform. There's not a title on the iPhone/iPod Touch that comes even close to the likes of Gran Turismo or God of War.

Mass Effect sells 1 million, Halo 3 moves 5 million

For reference, in its second holiday season, the 360 had "Gears of War" as an exclusive, arguably a revolutionary game. Let's not forget the mountain of quality titles that were released in 2006 when the 360 was the only next-gen game in town. Examples? Dead Rising, GRAW, Burnout, Saints Row, Rainbow Six Vegas.

This is the 360's third holiday season and it enters it with Halo 3 and Mass Effect. Of course, this is after spring/summer that included Bioshock and Forza 2.

Of the most-hyped PS3 fanboy titles, Lair, MGS4, Gran Turismo, Killzone 2, FF, etc. Only one arrived this year...

Lair

That one wasn't worth waiting for. Yes, other stuff has landed, but the selection of quality titles is incredibly small in PS3-land. I haven't run into anyone that was enthusiastic about Drake's fortune.

Let's not forget the "4D" graphics. The extra D is for "downgraded" visuals from the 360. Hands down, the 360 is a better bet for the multi-platform games.

Given this track record, I don't understand the PS3 optimism for 2008.

"stop trolling the ps3 website. you know you dont have a ps3"

domino,
This is the 360Fanboy web site.
Technically, that makes you the troll, doesn't it?

The 360 user base is large enough now that most "good" titles have a shot at breaking the 1m mark. The exceptional titles will sell multi-millions.

With it's much smaller installed base, you can't say the same for the PS3. Even "great" exclusive titles like Daxter and Drake manage to only sell in the thousands. The relatively small size of base is a major factor to the PS3 being home to ported 360 games -- "sloppy seconds".

Gears of War 2
Fable 2
Unreal Tournament III
Grand Theft Auto IV

GAME excited by new PS3 model

Oct 8th 2007 7:46AM (Joystiq Playstation)
For those keeping track...

No 7 local Controllers
No Dual HDMI Ports
No 100% Backwards Compatibility

Now...
No Backwards Compatibility, period

Is there anything that the PS3 does that Sony promised it will do?

The 360 arguments about backwards compatibility now are moot. The 360 is going into its THIRD holiday season now with a big pile of new games including Halo 3 and Bioshock. The PS3 is going into its second holiday without a single must have exclusive title.

I'd be hating life if the PS3 was my only console. At least it plays Blu-Ray movies, that's the only reason it isn't gathering dust.

Bungie talks Halo 3 640p issue

Sep 30th 2007 11:54AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I'd rather have a high fidelity scene with a lot going on running 60fps at 480p than 15-20fps at 720p.

At 640p, Bungie is clearly meeting their performance targets. I'm glad the hardware scaling within the 360 makes this possible.

If you're a PS3 owner, you're stuck with low framerates and 720p. The developers don't even have the option.

New live action Halo 3 video amazes [update]

These shorts serve two purposes.

1) Fuel the Halo 3 release hype machine.
2) Demonstrate to the studios that a Halo movie could be a viable concept.

Starship troopers was sold on a technical proof-of-concept short. As with other sci-fi films, we're seeing the same kind of thing here.

Kaz Hirai says PS3-exclusive content adds extra flavor

Sep 3rd 2007 5:33PM (Joystiq Playstation)
It's a shame that Sony hasn't done anything to entice developers to do this. The 360 is the platform that third party developers are targetting. The PS3 gets ports of 360 games with lower framerates and muddy textures.

Sony needs to produce some games on the platform that show off the horsepower, because this "more powerful platform" stuff hasn't yielded much fruit.
