Sep 14th 2008 10:44PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Oh, and around here we have the Memphis redbirds. They're decent. They usually don't have a very winning season though.

I wonder if anyone actually said the phillies since that's their favorite team just to get brownie points.

Wii Warm Up: What's 'very affordable' for you?

Aug 5th 2008 11:33AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
$14.99, baby. MAYBE $19.99. But no cheaper than $15 because it'll feel like cheap plastic, but no higher than $20, especially since you have to buy one for every single Wiimote.

Toys R Us offers buy one, get $20 off deal

I might. This might be a good time to pick up Super Mario Galaxy, and then for $10 more, I could grab No More Heroes.

Wii Warm Up: By the numbers

Jul 30th 2008 11:53AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I only have:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Order Up!
Zelda: Twilight Princess (borrowed)
Wii Sports
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Monster Truck Arena

I'm going to buy Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Animal Crossing when they come out, and I'll probably get 2-3 gift cards for Christmas, so I'll probably end up getting Super Mario Galaxy (really want to get it) Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (with perfect shot) and who knows what else. My Christmas list is 20 games long (all wii games).

As far as future games, I'm excited by a lot of games, and I will plan to buy them once Christmas is over with (when I don't have to save up for presents), but I won't spend the money on them until they've been out for a few days and I get the review on them. Except for Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Animal Crossing, because I already know those are going to be awesome. Here's the list of games that I'm really excited about this Fall:

Guitar Hero: World Tour
Samba De Amigo
Spore
Star Wars: Clone Wars
Star Wars: Force ?Unleashed
Wario Land: Shake It
Spiderman: Web of Shadows
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Wii Music
H.A.W.X.
CoD: World at War (don't know when it's coming out)
The Conduit (don't know when it's coming out)

And I would only buy a Mario/Zelda/Metroid/Kid Icarus game in the next 6 months if all the reviews were outstanding. We just saw Mario and Metroid, and Zelda and Kid Icarus should take longer than a year to make a good one, so I don't think that any of those would be even decent games if they pushed them out the door by Christmas. I don't want to see any of those until next E3, and then I only want to see a preview. I think a good time to pull them out would be Christmas '09 or Spring of '10. Then they'd be extra amazing.

Wii Warm Up: Do you feel abandoned?

Jul 29th 2008 3:51PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I couldn;t agree more. I think the people who say that they're abandoned aren't really hardcore gamers. Hardcore gamers means you've owned, played, and beaten every single nintendo system with every single Mario and Zelda game. It's ok if you miss a few every now and then (I don't think I ever got around to play Zelda: Links awakening), but if you've never played and beaten Zelda: Ocarina of Time, then shut up. You are NOT hardcore. Here's my list games you should've beaten before you can be declared "hardcore"...

Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World
Legend of Zelda
Super Mario 64
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario Sunshine
Zelda: Wind Waker
Super Mario Galaxy
Zelda: Twilight Princess

If you've beaten every single one of those, then you have the complete right to call yourself hardcore. You still shouldn't think that you're abandoned, though, no matter how many times you've beaten those.

Wii Warm Up: Do you feel abandoned?

Jul 29th 2008 3:36PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It isn't really a feeling of abandonment. I admit, I was disappointed at the lineup, but it was as bad as every is making it out to be. Some people are really going over the top with the whole "abandonment" speech. We JUST had a Mario game, for one thing, and it's funny because people keep flooding forums saying "We want Mario", but it it were flipped, and they HAD introduced a Mario title, people would be criticizing the heck out of it. Also, LET THEM WORK ON ZELDA. I wouldn't DARE to ask a Nintendo developer to cut short on a Zelda game just so we can feel like we have a "hardcore" game this Christmas.

We ARE getting some hardcore games, people. Animal Crossing is going to be a blast, and so is Warioland, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Don't like Star Wars? Go buy Samba de Amigo or Guitar Hero: World Tour. In the spring there's Madworld, and who knows when The Conduit is coming out (speaking of which, High Voltage really shot themselves by not showing SOMETHING this E3).

All these gamers who have gotten on forums for the past 2 weeks and completely gotten dramatic over the "hardcore" gamers getting "screwed" need to calm down. I don't say that mean, but being one myself, I'm ok with no Zelda/Mario games right now. I'd rather them take a long time to develop than to just push crap out of the door. Quality, not quantity.
