Baine is a warrior.

In my experience, this particular match-up goes one way over another a good 80% of the time.

Besides, Baine is probably too pissed off to dodge the blades of ice.

The new playabe character will be a loud Scotsman who fights the British initially, but then fights the Americans after the Templars start establishing themselves into their new government.

I don't have enough experience with JRPGs to disagree with you on a credible basis, but I will say that one could always argue that betrayal at Krondor and Lands of Lore were more the exceptions than the rule.

I suppose it's probably for the best that the cast from the trilogy be retired. As much as we may like the characters, we should remember that A) It's entirely possible for almost all of them to die, and B) That these characters are well-written enough to deserve an ending.

Yes, Garrus is the man, but I suspect that his well of ''cool" would dry up at some point before Mass Effect 6. Better to let him continue to be awesome in the games he was in and to let Bioware create some newer, fresher characters.
