Jul 6th 2010 4:10PM (Engadget)
I would love to hear more about the upcoming official Evo car docks...

E3 2010 Prediction Bingo: Sony

Jun 10th 2010 12:08PM (Joystiq)
These are all either super-safe predictions (more 3D talk? more LBP2 details?those are guaranteed at this point) or standard rumors.

Verizon looking at non-unlimited plans for 4G data, will use LTE for voice by 2012

May 27th 2010 1:08PM (Engadget)
Pricing network access based on actual bandwidth usage is the only sensible way to do it.

Why should voice data be priced completely differently than any other data?

Why should people be charged based purely on how many active devices they have?

Those pricing systems are just crude approximations for what is really being bought/sold: network connectivity and bandwidth. People should pay for what they use, companies should get paid for what they sell, and providers should compete to give us the best rates and quality of service.

I'm shocked Sprint didn't already do this with WiMax.

Editorial: Thoughts on Foxconn

These worker exploitation issues are very serious, but realistically, they should be handled by the Chinese government, within the industry itself, and by academic policy experts and maybe even sociologists. I really don't think regular consumers are in a position to do much of anything useful. Buy the gadgets you like and find your own way to make society better.

Monkey Machine is an awesome Java-based drum machine

Not an original concept, I've seen a handful of simple drum sequencers before, but this is still a lot of fun.

Hulu says HTML5 'doesn't yet meet all of our customers' needs'

May 13th 2010 1:58PM (Engadget)
Even on YouTube, the optional HTML5 beta video player doesn't work as well as the standard Flash player. The HTML 5 player was weird video artifacts and skip controls don't work as well. I don't understand why, but that's what I see as a user.

MSI's Slatebook 10-inch Atom tablet is not what we've been waiting for

May 11th 2010 12:25PM (Engadget)
What people want from a tablet is so simple and predictable, it is so frustrating to watch these manufacturers put out devices that just completely miss the mark in every way.

Simple formula for what people want from a tablet:
- Give the device a slim, elegant design aesthetic. The surface should be all display with minimal border, very thin, light, and durable. This really isn't complicated.
- Nice CPU/GPU/RAM. Give it the guts of a nice smart phone like the Pre Plus or the Nexus One or something similar.
- Smart Phone OS: Android or WebOS. Maybe Windows Mobile 7 when it comes out, but people don't want traditional desktop Windows.
- Throw in a few sketching/design apps to showcase the a large-format multi-touch interface.

Verizon Palm Pre Plus drops to $30 on contract

May 3rd 2010 12:12PM (Engadget)
@DoctarPeppar

The internals (CPU/RAM) on the Pre Plus are very high end. 512 MB RAM, fast CPU. Trumps the iPhone 3GS and is very slightly behind the high end Android handsets (Nexus One + Incredible have slightly faster CPU but same RAM).

WebOS is really good, the Pre Plus hardware is great, but given the choice, the new Android handsets seem to have more exciting features.

I can't believe Sprint is still stuck with the non-Plus Pre.

Entelligence: Technology is fashion and the new fashion is technology

Apr 30th 2010 2:08PM (Engadget)
"-- until Steve Jobs and the iMac came along. If I had to put a stake in the ground that's when technology became fashionable. "

Technology has *always* been about fashion. It was true about timekeeping devices, it was true about cars, and you can go back thousands of years to the breaking technologies of the Ancient Greeks, and it was true then.

Dell Sparta and Athens netbooks, Looking Glass Pro and Streak variants teased on Android roadmap

@Richard Lai

The months are missing a full year. They show January '10, Feb-Nov (without years given), then December '11.
